The Looks of Spring 2013

Looks of Spring 2013 via Glitter Geek

I admit that spring is personally my least favourite makeup season. Typically there is a deluge of pastels, which isn’t the most flattering for anyone with darker than medium skin. However, looking at the Spring 2013 visuals, there is something to be excited about. There are your typical collections (Dior, Laura Mercier) where everything is pink, but you can’t deny that these looks are so pretty! I’m glad to see bright watermelon pinks from Chanel and Lancôme, not to mention that insane bright turquoise eyeliner on Emma Watson. We’re seeing a lot of greens and blues in eyeshadows as well (Bare Minerals, Giorgio Armani, YSL). Clarins‘ vampy wintery look is so surprising and looks totally out of place in this visual board. shu uemura is — as expected — bringing all colours under the rainbow and feather-everything (!!!). The most interesting collection to me is NARS. Anticipated by many to think outside the (colour) box, NARS is featuring saturated matte powders, including a glorious bright orange eyeshadow and deep berry blush (swatches on Makeup and Beauty Blog).

The Looks of Fall 2012

Fall is a season for all makeup lovers.  Whether it’s an emphasis on the eyes or the lips (or sometimes, both), there’s a little something for everyone.  I have been anti-crackle polish since day 1, but my oh my — does the Dior khaki shatter polish look good or what?  From the classic smokey eye and berry lips from Chanel and Laura Mercier, to the look of a typical YSL girl (lots of eyeshadow and blush!), to super daring shu uemura and NARS, fall 2012 is shaping up to be an exciting season for makeup.  Oh, and can we talk about Revlon Shanghai Collection by Gucci Westman?  I’m telling you now… it is going to blow you away (available in September, reviews/swatches to come).

Fun With Lipstick: Two Ways To Wear NARS Niagara Lipstick

NARS Lipstick in Niagara

Happy weekend! I hope your weekend is off to a great start. Mine is going great; I’m playing with lipstick, what else? :) Niagara is my first lipstick from NARS, and I am very impressed! I love the creaminess of the formula, plus it’s opaque and long-wearing. It’s a beautiful coral pink that I’m sure to wear a lot in the warm months ahead.

Reader Jacqui requested for a photo of my bare lips for reference before I do my lip swatches. Well here you go, guys! Beige, grey and all sorts of boring. :)

NARS Niagara Lipstick ($30) has potential to be crazy fun (as you’ll see later), but for now this is what it looks like worn alone. It’s an easy to wear glossy coral pink. It’s the lighter, pinker and glossier sister of MAC Crosswires. On my lips, Niagara looks more pink, but on others it may lean more coral. Check out how it looks on Saadeh of Shadowy Lady.

Let’s kick it up a few notches, shall we?

Here is what NARS Niagara looks like layered atop a cherry red lip liner. O HAI. It’s a deep watermelon red, deeper and redder than MAC Impassioned. What a transformation, right? Mixing lipstick colours is what I do for fun. ;) Try it sometime! You’ll be surprised what awesome combinations you might come up with.
