Because of my Filipino roots, I develop a dark brown tan very quickly. A few hours spent at the beach turns me one to two shades darker. Case in point: here I was in two weeks into my Costa Rica vacation in 2009, making friends with an iguana. Hello, brown girl!
I like to be tan in the spring and summer, but my tan inevitably goes away in the winter. This is why I’m a self-tanning nut. When skirts and shorts season arrives, out comes my sunless tanner. Oh I gotta tell you what I’m using now! Here it is: Vitatanz Organic Spray On Tan Home & Travel Kit in Golden Glow ($35 at Vitatanz.ca). It comes with 2 oz of product in a spray bottle, a pair of gloves and an applicator puff. To apply, spray 2-3 times on each small part of your body (e.g., forearm), and blend in using the gloves. For the face, apply directly on the puff and blend on the skin. Important: make sure your skin is clean and your lotion has soaked in completely.
The product itself is tinted dark natural brown, so you can see where you’ve applied and spots you haven’t blended. Unlike other self-tanners I’ve tried in the past, there is no unpleasant smell to this. It actually smells lightly sweet. It is not greasy nor sticky, and it dries within 5 minutes of application. Sounds too good to be true? Well believe it, because it is true.
Vitatanz’ tagline is “always brown never orange.” Truer words have never been spoken. Below is a before and after, taken 10 minutes after application. This is a real brown tan, you guys! On me, one application easily lasted 10 days. Very impressive, eh?
With Vitatanz / without
I’ve never used any sunless tanning kit as easy as Vitatanz’ system. It is so effective, and you can get your desired intensity of colour in one application. I’ve heard that even pale complexions can still get a believable tan with this. I’ve tried to find a single bad thing about Vitatanz but I’m at a loss. This is perfection, dear readers. It can’t get any better than this.
