Hello Cheekbones: 60 Seconds with Chanel Notorious Ombre Contraste

There is a buzz in the beauty world about a new taupe/grey contouring powder. That buzz said “Get it. You need it. Must have. Iloveitsomuch. This stuff is a game changer.” I almost literally ran to the store to buy the powder — Chanel Notorious Ombre Contraste ($48) — after hearing that it’s available in Holt Renfrew Chanel counters across Canada.

Why is this product such a game changer, you ask? The grey tones, instead of the usual brown, mimics shadows of the face perfectly. It is meant to be worn all as an eyeshadow or face contour powder). Notorious sculpts the face to perfection. Want a deeper eye crease? Want a skinnier nose (without an actual nose job)? Want strong cheekbones and jaw line? Notorious can help with that. For reference, my skin tone is around MAC NC37-40 or NARS Barcelona.

  • Ah this is just so unfair! I was told it’d be available at the Chanel boutique, but when I went the SAs had NO idea what I was talking about! I’ll have to man up and hunt it down, because all you people look WAY too good with this!

    • Hope you find it soon, Sunny!

  • YES YES YES!!!! I was hoping it would come to Canada! So excited! Hopefully I can make it there tomorrow. Hate being so far from Holt’s!

    • Yay! Hopefully it’s not sold out yet, Christa.

    • BooBooNinja

Christa, did you get it? Do you want me to hunt one down for me? I live about 15mins away from Holts, by bike. It’s all down hill so it’s no problem at all!

  • ahh this looks amazing on everyone i have seen so far (including you :D) but im so skeptical of the color…gray?! i tried nyx taupe on me and wasnt impressed, it was so dull. i loled at your before and after pics because in your before pic your cheekbones are still so prominent without any enhancement. lucky!!

    • Hey Kelly! It will totally suit you! Promise! This goes on sheer, so it doesn’t look dirty at all. It’s very easy to build. 😉 And you see that it matches the natural shadow of my cheekbones!

      • BooBooNinja

It’s true, Kelly. I’m a makeup newbie but this works for me. It’s probably the most awesome item of makeup I own. Man… don’t I sound like I’m 13?

  • I’ve been dying for this!

    • It’s like the perfect universal contour colour, Lelo! You will love it. 🙂

  • woooow o:

  • I am always amazed by what contouring can do, especially in pictures. I am still not sure if I like N. on me though, it is a beautiful e/s though. but it really looks amazing on you, like natural ‘shadow’.

    • Hi Claire. 🙂 It’s a gorgeous eyeshadow! I can’t wait to wear it layered over black. I think it would be stunning.

  • Thanks for the link, Geekz! Your hair is sex, btw.

    • Thanks Wands! Ermahgerd good hair day!

  • Vanessa

I am very intrigued by this product, but I must admit… I really can’t spot the difference between the before and after picture. Maybe in person the difference is greater, but in the pictures, I only noticed the differences in your hair… You look lovely anyway!

    • Hi Vanessa! The comparison photo wasn’t very good, sorry! I updated it now with a better comparison. It was tricky to get the exact same angle for the before and afters.

  • Michelle (LipstickRules)

I need this in my life! You look hawt with a capital H.

  • TracyBeautyReflections

SHMEXXXXXY Geekz! I love this stuff. I want a back up! But not sure if I can find one.

    • BooBooNinja

I know what you mean! I use My Pretty very carefully, using up as much of the powder kick-up each time. I thought of getting a back up too, but I figure this will last me for some time. At least until I find a less expensive alternative. (But in 2 years time, I reserve the right to message you, crying about my finished Notorious compact.)
