My Fall Lips: MAC Party Line Lipstick.

The Fall season has officially arrived today, and I am welcoming it with a new lipstick. What better way is there? πŸ˜‰

Yesterday I marched down to the MAC counter looking for something in between office-appropriate and party lips. MAC Party Line Lipstick ($17.50) is a plummy red Cremesheen that fits the bill perfectly. It goes on quite sheer but layers easily to a gorgeous plum/berry colour that I oh so covet this season.

There are already several Cremesheens in my stash and from my experience, the dark colours go on very creamy and tend to bleed. Remember my Dita Von Teese inspired look? That crisp lip line was heavily Photoshopped. In person, that lip was one hot mess! So, lesson learned: lip liner is a must with Cremesheen lipsticks like Party Line.

Isn’t she pretty? She’s bold, yet the berry tones make her pretty wearable. By the way, after looking for swatches of this very lipstick all over the web, it looks like Party Line used to be a lighter plum red. Β It looks like Karla Sugar‘s swatch is close to what I have though. Β It’s prettier anyway. πŸ™‚

Thoughts? Would you wear this in the office? I did. I guess that wimpy Arianne of 2009 has totally left the building, ha! πŸ˜€

  • OOH GORGEOUS. You are so ready for fall! I’m not brave enough to wear this to the office but I think some people pull it off very well.
You should do a lip care lip (if u even take care of them!) cuz I’m sure we’d all like to get your super smooth lips

    • LOL thanks! πŸ™‚ I hate to tell you that I don’t have a lip care routine actually. This particular lipstick applies really creamy, hence the smooth looking lips.

  • ooh gorgeous. I love berry-leaning reds, they’re so much easier to wear (for everyday that is) than full out reds (which I love as well, just not something I wear unless I really feel like it)

    • Yay! You’re totally right. This colour is so much fun and so much easier to wear. πŸ™‚

so pretty; i LOVE berry toned reds…

    • Then you should definitely check this one at your MAC store. πŸ™‚ It’s a hidden gem from the permanent collection, really!

        great!! πŸ™‚

  • The lips are lookin totally luscious πŸ™‚ I don’t think I can pull off this color very well…looks great on you though!

    • It applies semi-sheer with one swipe, so you might be surprised. πŸ™‚ What colours do you usually gravitate towards?

  • Oooh that’s pretty <3 I love the cremesheen formula.

    • πŸ™‚ Which ones do you have? I have a love/hate relationship with my Cremesheens. They go on so creamy so they tend to move all over the place if worn without a liner, but dry out my lips slightly. It just does not make sense. However I love the sheen and colour they give my lips.

  • That is a gorgeous color. I don’t think that I have any cremesheens. Must remedy that.

    • You should check out Dare You and Crosswires. πŸ™‚

  • MAC creamsheens are my faves! I have to get that colour…I shy away from true reds & like berry shades best & that’s a perfect balance. Thanks for sharing!

    • Which ones do you like, Monica? I actually prefer the Lustre lipsticks as they are more comfortable on my lips.
