Ramblings of a Beauty Fanatic.

Hello everybody!  Here are a few random beauty-related stuff that have been kicking around in my brain, but are too long to go in a Tweet:

  1. In an effort to save some a lot of money (because let’s be honest, I can easily spend $100 at Sephora), I bought no beauty products for boxing week.  Only a few necessities: a snowboarding helmet, a stomp pad for my snowboard, a pair of Yoga Jeans (I just have an ill-fitting one at the moment) and my MALM vanity from IKEA (mostly on gift cards)!
  2. I just got back from the drugstore and didn’t buy any makeup!  I just got a heavier night cream (Dove Deep Moisture) and a hand cream (Neutrogena Norwegian Formula), both because I don’t have any, because…
  3. I finished my night cream (Dove Day Cream for Sensitive Skin).  I would have re-bought because I really like it, but it is too light of a moisturizer for winter.
  4. Other things that have been finished recently: VO5 Hot Oil, Aussie 3-Minute Miracle Deeeep, L’Oreal Waterproof Eye and Lip Makeup Remover and Aveeno Fig & Shea Butter Hydrating Body Wash. I am also very close to finishing my tube of Too Faced Shadow Insurance.
  5. I got a couple of makeup sets gifted to me this Christmas/Birthday: Urban Decay Show Pony Shadow Box, and Sephora Mini Super Shimmer Set.

Such is the life of a beauty fanatic.  I might buy some new products to try out, but when something works, it’s hard to cheat on it for another.  I’m also consciously trying to work through my stash.  I’m actually re-discovering my blushes for example, rotating through all of them for an entire week.  It’s amazing what gems I’ve found!

How about you?

What are your beauty staples that you find yourself buying over and over and over again?

Load the Fonts You Want on Your Website.

This is a little something geeky for a lazy day that’ll add some flare to your website.  It is super easy.  All you need to do is upload a font on the web somewhere, and add a custom font face to your CSS. Something like this:

<html>
  <head>
      ...
      <style type="text/css">
         @font-face {
           font-family: "Coolfont";
           src: url("http://url.to/Coolfont.otf");
         }
         body {
           font-family: "Coolfont", sans-serif;
         }
      </style>
   </head>
   <body>
   ...
   </body>
</html>

You can also add a font-size, font-weight (e.g., normal or bold), or font-style (e.g., italic) if you want.

It’s a good idea to have a backup font-family (e.g., Times / serif or Arial / sans-serif) in case the font doesn’t load properly on other platforms or browsers. I tested mine on my Mac with no problems. :)

If you are overriding your current CSS fonts, try adding the !important tag to your code:

         @font-face {
           font-family: "Coolfont";
           src: url("http://url.to/Coolfont.otf");
         }
         body {
           font-family: "Coolfont", sans-serif !important;
         }

Aaand that’s it!  I believe OTF format works best (I might be wrong) but TTF will also work.

Please let me know if you try this and have any questions. :D  I’d love to help.  And I’m also curious to see what font you use.  I’m kind of a font junkie. :P
