My Current WANT! List Thanks To A Few Bloggers

I read a lot of blogs that make me go WANT! about 10x a day. This post is a current wishlist / link love hybrid to my favourite beauty blogs. Just a bit of warning: my favourite bloggers are total enablers. ;) Carry on.

wishlist january 2013

  1. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders in (um… all of them… not a shade name btw) [Makeup and Beauty Blog]. The idea of powders that mimic how the skin looks under different types of lighting (Mood Light, Dim Light, etc.) just make my heart palpitate… in a good way. I want to hoard these like I want to collect kittens.
  2. Tata Harper Aromatic Irritability Treatment [No More Dirty Looks]. Siobhan talks about this aromatherapy treatment a lot, and says that “people freak out when they smell it.” I’m an expert in freaking out, so naturally I want to sniff this. Work and real life are pretty stressful for me at the moment and anything to help with irritability is welcome.
  3. L’Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Berry Persistent [My Lucite Dreams]. I have these in a few neutral shades (swatches are forthcoming), but I really really want a bold pop of colour like Berry Persistent. And can we please talk about how gorgeous Taylor is? I can’t even… So much pretty, and she has exquisite taste, too.
  4. OPI Nail Lacquer in Lights of Emerald City, from the Soft Shades 2013 Collection inspired by Disney’s ‘Oz the Great and Powerful’ [ommorphia beauty bar]. I’m absolutely positive that Eugenia can make the ugliest, streakiest nail polish look good. But seriously, how pretty are the glitters in this collection? Glitter Geek wants!

Currently I Want…

… many things. Every year when October hits, I want to go shopping all the time. Perhaps because it’s a stressful time of year for me work-wise, but also the new releases this time of year — both in beauty and fashion — are highly covetable. Here are some things that caught my attention (translation: that I’ve been losing sleep over) lately.

  1. Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup. This foundation! I received this as a press sample, but the shade I received (5.5) is too light for my skin tone. I am around MAC NC35-40, so I think shade 7 would be better suited for me. I wore it in this makeup look and am really enjoying it, but not without mixing with a darker foundation. I think I might just cave and get it. It’s available now at Holt Renfrew stores across Canada. Check out this great review by Le Beauty Girl, who wears shade 6.5.
  2. Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Dulce de Leche. Blame Jessica at Beautezine for this one. This is one colour that I haven’t seen before — a colour that is hard to describe. Rosy brown, or mid-tone peachy rose? I tried it on at Sephora and just love it. Soon, my love, you will be mine. Check out the enabler’s post for the swatch. ;)
  3. Guerlain Meteorites in Perles du Dragon. How pretty are these balls?! Every time Guerlain releases a new one I turn into a monster and just want. so. bad! but the price is holding me back. Why you so pretty, ballz? :) Please be mine. Check it out here on Temptalia.
  4. Tarte Fantastic Foursome 4-Piece Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush Enthusiast Set. It’s currently not in stock on Sephora, but hopefully it’ll be back soon or is still at my store. Can you say, all the blush you’ll ever need? No?! I always prayed that Tarte would come out with a set of these wonderful blushes (check out my review here), and it is here, you guys! Must have!
  5. Soïa & Kyo Belinda Red Wool Coat. Cute, right? Little Red Riding Hood? Is that you? I am due to replace my nice winter coat this year (I have a nice winter coat and a sensible one) and I have my eyes on this Soïa & Kyo beauty.
  6. Rockport Anna Boot Lace Up (not an affliate link). Because Little Red’s lace up boots over there are so cute, but I am a rugged boot kinda girl. This one might even work on snowy days.

Do you have shopping fever right now? What’s on your list? Are you planning your holiday shopping (for loved ones and yourself!) yet?

Glitter Geek Holiday Gift Guide: Makeup Edition.

Ahhh where did the time go?  Apparently there are only 15 days before Christmas and I just started my Christmas shopping.  For round two of Glitter Geek Holiday Gift Guide, our favourite thing: Makeup!

MAC ‘Tis Noble To Give Viva Glam Lip Bag ($43.50)

If you or someone in your life is a lipstick junkie, then you can’t go wrong with this set.  It includes my favourite, Viva Glam V lipstick, and the coordinating Viva Glam V lipgloss.  Also, if you happen to love this set and want to give it as a present to yourself, do it!  All proceeds go to the MAC AIDS Fund.

Sephora Beauty In A Box: NARS Junkie ($80)

Yes, I still love this set.  Why should you get it?  I outlined it here before, complete with math calculations for you geeks out there.

Cargo Lumieres du Monde Palette ($29)

I had never seen this palette until I dropped by the CARGO counter for a makeover (with Makeup Junkie Joy no less!) today.  What an incredible value!  The palette itself has a mix of shimmery and matte eyeshadows, all of which have a good amount of pigment.  The blush/bronzer in the middle is also very flattering on the skin.  I don’t think your $29 could do as well anywhere else.

Kat Von D Painted Love Lipstick Set (US $28)

These cute bite-sized bullets of lipstick have stolen my heart!  So. much. want!  From a recent Sephora adventure, I managed to swatch these and glad to say that they are very creamy and pigmented! :)  I’m not sure what the Canadian price is anymore ($35?) because it is now sold out online on Sephora.com.  So, hurry up if you want to get it!

Chanel Tentation Cuivrée Eyeshadow Quad (probably a lot of $$$)

This one — just for me.  You know, in case you have some extra money lying around. :D
