Lise Watier Bora Bora Duo Shadow and Glitter for Summer 2011: The Next Best Thing to Going on a Real Beach Vacation.

I’ve never been to Bora Bora, but I have an idea of what it might look like.  Like this, right?

Let’s pretend this is Bora Bora.

This was taken in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica actually.  But you know, all white sand beaches with sparkling aqua waters look alike.

Lise Watier’s summer collection, called Bora Bora, brings us a few vibrant Duo Eyeshadow & Glitters ($25 each) that take me back to my tropical vacation two years ago.

The flip top cap reveals a mirror and a cream eyeshadow in a pot.  The complementing coloured glitter screws out of the bottom with a sifter.

  • Golden Wasabi is a lime green cream eyeshadow with lime green and gold glitters.
  • Blue Ray is a turquoise cream eyeshadow with turquoise glitter.
  • Wild Orchid is a bright violet with a mix of pink, violet and turquoise glitters.

I really like the idea of having a cream eyeshadow and loose glitter packaged together.  As any Glitter Geek would know, loose glitter can get everywhere without a proper base, and these cream eyeshadows actually make a great sticky base for these glitters.  The cream eyeshadows can be applied sheer with one swipe, or built up to be more opaque without any issues.  They dry just slightly tacky to get the glitters to stay in place.

You might be asking, what do you use to pat glitter on your lids?  You could use your fingers, or if you want a more precise application, the Glitter Eyeshadow Brush ($15).  It puts down glitter evenly and cleans up easily with a few swipes on a tissue. :)

Stay tuned for a very glittery look I’m planning for the weekend.  It’s been too long since this Glitter Geek has played with some sparkles, and I’m hoping it’ll be every bit as epic as I imagine it in my head, LOL! :D

Do You Have Any Tropical Vacation Plans This Year?

It’s hot, and I have the beach on my mind! Where are you going, or where have you gone, this year? I’m not going anywhere far this summer, but we are planning for Mexico later in the year. :) It should be fun!

Annabelle Glitterama in Pom Pom has Turned Me into a Peppy Cheerleader. Ready? Let’s Go!

Back when I was in elementary school, I always admired cheerleaders.  They got to wear tons of makeup, their hair in high ponytails, cute colourful outfits, and of course, dance around carrying shiny pom poms in their hands.  At one point I even considered joining the cheerleading squad.  Unfortunately, I’ve never been a cheerleader because I was too self-conscious of my thunder thighs.

Sigh.

After fifteen years, I’m glad to say that I can finally channel my inner cheerleader with my own pom poms. :)  This is Annabelle Glitterama Liquid Eyeliner in Pom Pom ($7.95), a limited edition item from Annabelle’s Day Dream collection.  It’s purple.  It’s glittery.  In short, it’s L-O-V-E.

Pom Pom is not just a straight purple glitter liner.  What looks like a periwinkle liner from afar is more complex up close.  Instead, Pom Pom is a mix of violet, periwinkle and turquoise glitters with a clear base.  So, this liner can be layered over blue, purple, or black liners for added depth and oomph to the look.  This multifaceted glitter eyeliner is totally reminiscent of those shiny metallic pom poms.

It’s my first time trying the Glitterama liquid eyeliner, and my experience with this is excellent.  It stayed on my lash line through a sweaty cardio session.  It’s easy to take off, too; with a light rubbing it just rolls off the skin.

Does Pom Pom Make You Want to Break into Dance?

I obviously love it.  Do you, too?  Did you want to be cheerleader growing up?  Or, were you?

‘Tis the Season to Play with Glitter: China Glaze Party Hearty.

Here at Glitter Geek HQ, we always have glitter in our minds.  One easy way to wear glitter — if you’re not comfortable sporting it on your eyes or face — is on your nails. :)  It’s a great way to add a festive kick to your look this Holiday season.

Right now, I am wearing China Glaze Party Hearty from China Glaze’s Holiday 2010 collection.  Party Hearty is a mix of hexagonal red, smaller hexagonal green, and regular gold glitter.  It’s like a freakin’ Christmas tree on my nails.

I wore two thick coats in the swatch.  For a single coat, I laid down the glitters on the nail bed by patting the brush flat on the nail, then sweep it to one side and the other to fill the nail.  It is a lot of work to get a uniform placement of the glitter, but I found that two coats worked well.

You can also wear this layered sheer over a coloured nail polish.  I’ve seen it work stunningly over white, like Vampy Varnish’s swatches here. :)
