Lise Watier Duo Mineral Eyeshadows in Misty Green

Finding eyeshadows that I like and don’t hate my eyes has always been difficult to do.  I bought MAC eyeshadows in the past, and was always happy with how they performed, but not with how they treated my eyes.  The shadows always left my eyes dry, irritated and just overall a mess due to eczema.  This makes it difficult for me to do dramatic evening looks.  I was so thrilled with this Lise Watier Duo Mineral Eyeshadows in Misty Green ($25) because it’s so lightweight, but the color shows up so well because of the high pigmentation.

The shadows don’t have any sparkles in them, rather they are more metallic/shimmer looking.  I wear the light green side as a soft highlighter in the tear ducts and on the brow bone, and even on its own all over the lid.  It blends so effortlessly.  I am in love with the dark green/grey colour from this duo.  It shows up amazingly well with my pale skin.  If you want a more subtle look, you can use less.  But if you want a more dramatic evening look, you can build this shadow up to give a nice pop to your crease, and to give definition to the eye.  The texture of the shadows allow for effortless blending; it feels like silk on the skin.

I had this shadow on for about 5-6 hours, and it stayed put throughout the whole night.  I wore them to a dinner function, and then had a hot/humid/sticky subway ride home and the shadows didn’t budge one bit.  There was no creasing at all, which I was totally surprised and happy with.  The staying power of this duo was absolutely amazing.

Here’s a look I created using the eyeshadows.  This whole look took about 7 minutes to complete (on both eyes).

Get the Look

I put on Clinique cream shadow in Canvas-Light all over the lid and up to the brow bone. I used the lighter green all over the lid, up to the brow bone and in the tear ducts. I applied the darker green shadow in the crease of my eye, and half way through the lid, blended really well to ensure there were no evident lines. I took the dark green shadow all the way through the lower lash line, only to meet the lighter green shadow by the tear duct. I blended the two together, added Annabelle Black Khol Liner on the lower lash line, tightline, and smudged on the top lash line. I finished it off with L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara on upper and lower lashes.

I really fell in love with this duo.  It definitely did not disappoint.  My eyes are so hard to please because they are so sensitive, but these shadows did the trick.  I definitely recommend this duo to anyone who has sensitive skin. If you can’t find colours that compliment each other, Lise Watier has done it for you.

Pretty Colours, Eh?

Aren’t these colours so pretty on her light skin tone? I gotta be honest, I’m kinda jealous (just a little). I think it’ll look all sorts of wrong on my tanned skin, but if you’re a pale princess, give it a try!

When I first saw the Giorgio Armani Jacquard Quatuor Eye Palette No 1, I thought, “Pretty, but what an unusual combination of colours!”  This makeup addict was stumped. I didn’t want to give up on this beauty, so I turned to Twitter for ideas from fellow beauty junkies.

One of my favourite makeup artists, Diana Carreiro, suggested five different looks using this eye palette.  I sorta kinda think she’s a genius.  Thank you, Diana!  I tried all the looks for you; these are just quick swipes of colour, and no extra eyeliner was used.  The looks would really pop with the right liner.

Look #1

Look #1.  Apply the light green in the inner corners and along the inner third of the bottom lash line.  Using a firm eyeshadow brush, pat the purple on the lid.  Blend the dark green along the crease, and smudge along the outer two-thirds of the lower lash line.  Highlight the brow bone with the gold eyeshadow.

Look #2

Look #2.  Apply the light green all over the lid.  Blend the dark green along the crease.  Highlight with gold on the inner corner and the brow bone.  Apply a fat swipe of purple under the eyes for added drama.

Look #3

Look #3.  Apply the light green on the lid.  Blend the dark green in the crease and outer corner of lid.  Highlight with gold on the brow bone, and also smudge along the bottom lash line.  Apply the purple as a liner on the upper lash line, and wing out at the corner.

Look #4

Look #4. Apply the gold all over the lid.  Apply and blend the purple in the crease.  Apply the light green on the inner corner and run along inner third bottom lid.  Line the bottom two-thirds of the outer lash line with the dark green.

Look #5

Look #5.  Apply the purple all over the lid and along the bottom lash line.  Blend the dark green in the crease.  Highlight with the light green on the brow bone.  Highlight the inner corner with the gold, and dab down the centre of the lid.

Aren’t these looks just absolutely fabulous?  I love how you can take this palette from day to night; it is super versatile.  Which look do you like best?  I’m torn between #1 and #3; I can’t pick just one.

Sometimes I do pretty makeup, but there are days when I just want to put on over the top, I-really-hope-no-one-rings-the-doorbell-right-now makeup.  Today is one of those days, LOL!

Swatches (from left): joe fresh Peacock, Annabelle B-Ray, blue from CARGO Venice quad, MAC Arena, MAC Soft Brown

Get the Look

1. Start with an eye primer (Urban Decay Primer Potion) all over the lids up to the brows to make colours appear as vibrant as possible.
2. With a flat synthetic brush, pick up an icy blue (blue eyeshadow from CARGO Venice) and apply to the inner third of the lid and inner third of lower lash line.
3. Flip the brush over, then take a matte teal (joe fresh Peacock) to the outer two-thirds of the lid and middle of the lower lash line.  Blend the two colours where they meet.
4. Then, using a pointed crease brush (MAC 226), trace out the wing with a deep matte navy (Annabelle B-Ray).  Fill in the wing on the outer third of the lid.  Line the outer third of the lower lash line.
5. Take a fine tipped liner brush and emphasize the shape of the wing with the same navy eyeshadow.  See pictures for details, it’s kinda hard to explain.
6. I didn’t like the blue inner corner highlight on its own, so I applied a shimmery peach (MAC Arena) on top.  Highlight the brow bone as well.
7. Blend lightly above the navy with a mid-tone warm brown eyeshadow (MAC Soft Brown).
8. Line the upper lash line and waterline with black eyeliner (MAC Blacktrack Fluidline).
9. Apply mascara, and false lashes (Ardell 120 Demi) if you like.

Here is an eye look that I whipped up today because inspiration struck.  Since I got off work early, I decided to play with the sunlight and show off some shimmery colours.  Enjoy!

Products used (left to right)
Vasanti Gold from Go Canada! palette
NARS Night Porter
Sassy Minerals Spin the Bottle
MUFE Espresso
MAC Soft Brown

Get the Look

1. Wet a flat synthetic brush, and apply a light gold (Vasanti Gold) on the inner 1/3 of the lid.  Take the same light gold eyeshadow and apply to the inner 1/3 of the lower lash line.
2. Using a fluffy eye shadow brush, take a dark green (NARS Night Porter) and apply to the outer 2/3 of the lid, making a rounded shape past the crease.  Smudge the dark green into the outer 2/3 of your lower lash line.
3. Using a clean blending brush, sweep the light gold lightly over the dark green to blend them together.
4. Apply a matte dark brown (MUFE Espresso) with a pointed crease brush (MAC 226) into the crease and outer V.
5. Blend out with a matte medium brown (MAC Soft Brown) above the dark brown.
6. Pat on a shimmery golden green (Sassy Minerals Spin the Bottle) on to the middle of the lid.  Blend to complete the transition from light gold, to golden green, to dark green.
7. Line lower and upper waterlines with a black liner (Annabelle Ohmygoth!).
8. Apply false lashes to the upper lash line, but under the lashes.  This is an application technique I saw on a watercolour sky.
9. Put on as much mascara (L’Oreal Waterproof Carbon Black) as your lashes can handle.

I’m still fighting through my makeup rut so yesterday I ventured into smoky eyes.  I didn’t want to wear the usual grey/black smoky eye; instead I wore blues.

Get the Look

1. Use Annabelle Taupe Eyebrow Pencil (Quo discontinued my beloved 3-in-1, so sad!) to fill the brows.  A smoky eye is never complete without a good brow.
2. For depth, apply Annabelle B-Ray Eyeshadow (matte deep navy) all over the lid and blended out slightly above the crease.  Smudge B-Ray on the outer 2/3 of your lower lashline.  (Damn you, Rae for messing up my low buy )
3. After misting a flat shadow brush with MAC Fix+, take a little bit of Sassy Minerals Jinx Eyeshadow (sparkly aqua) on the brush and pat all over B-Ray.  This will add the sparkle to your smoky eye.  Smudge over B-Ray along the lower lashline; this time, go all the way in to the inner corner.
4. Add a teeny bit of MAC Carbon Eyeshadow (matte black) on the outer V bring in slightly to the crease.
5. To add warmth and to bring the look together, blend MAC Soft Brown Eyeshadow (matte medium warm brown) above the blues.
6. Dip a Q-tip in makeup remover, and clean up the shape so that you get slight wing. Don’t forget to re-touch the outer corners with foundation or concealer. Lightly blend out the outer corner to soften the wing.
7. Use Urban Decay Zero Eyeliner Pencil (creamy black) to line the upper lashline, and upper and lower waterlines.
8. Put on a good volumizing mascara.  Here I used MUFE Smoky Lash Mascara.  Sorry about the clumps!  I was taking tons of pictures when I realized that I didn’t have mascara on, so this was a quick swipe of mascara before I took one last pic before running out the door.

Have you ventured into blue eyeshadow or eyeliner yet?  If not, you have to!  It really brings out browns like no other.
