Highlights from Our Short Trip to California!

Our whirlwind trip to California has come to an end, and so now I bring you pictures!  We were warned that it was going to be cold in San Francisco and Sacramento, and cold it really was.  So much for bringing a tube dress; I was wearing pants and a spring jacket the entire time we were out.  I totally loved it there; I really wish we had more time to explore the city.

Here’s a brief recap before you look at the photos.

  1. The Saturday morning Farmer’s Market is a must.  You don’t have to eat breakfast before you go — there is so much food to sample! :)
  2. I had to wait for my latte at Blue Bottle Coffee for 20 minutes.  But it was damn good coffee.  Worth the wait.
  3. Kara’s Cupcakes are AH-MAZ-ING.  Best cupcakes ever.
  4. San Francisco is freezing cold this time of year.  It was foggy the whole two days we were there, but it sure is a flattering light for photography.
  5. Union Square (the shopping district) is incredible.  We were just passing through but I did get to go to their Sephora.  More on this in another post!
  6. I love San Francisco’s Chinatown.

P.S. I almost forgot!  A HUUUGE thank you to Marisol a.k.a. a dirty martini kind of girl for her SF recommendations.

Getting My Glow On Thanks to Genuine Health!

You may have noticed in my recent FOTDs that I now have a glow to my skin.  While the makeup products I use on my face are very very good (otherwise why would I use them?), I also attribute the glow to my multivitamin: multi+ daily glow.  I have been taking the 2 tablets of the multivitamin daily for the past month, and now I feel comfortable talking about its effects on my skin.

Let’s talk about all the good stuff that’s in multi+ daily glow.  It has a wide range of vitamins and minerals… ready?

Hydrolized collagen, White tea leaf extract, Pomegranate extract, Full spectrum grape extract, Lycopene, Vitamin A, Beta Carotene, Vitamin C, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Folic acid, Biotin, Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, Chromium, Selenium, Manganese, Iodine, Vanadium, Molybdenum, Copper

It also claims to provide anti-aging benefits, sun damage protection, and overall improved skin structure/texture. While I can’t vouch for its anti-aging claims (I don’t need it yet!), I can definitely say this: my skin looks great and sometimes go sans makeup.  I’m happy to report that my skin’s texture is more even and glowy!

I feel that I do have to mention that this changed the colour of my urine to yellow green since I’ve been taking it. I asked if this was a normal side effect of taking the formula. According to my contact from Genuine Health:

It’s normal to see a change in colour, particularly when taking a high potency formula like multi+ daily glow. Essentially, your body absorbs what it needs and flushes the rest out. This doesn’t mean you are not absorbing nutrients however! Just the opposite. Be sure to drink lots of water and take them with food for better digestion.

For someone who doesn’t always eat the healthiest diet (like me), I highly recommend this.  Remember that your skincare products can only do so much; you also have to think about what’s going inside your body!  Rating: A.

What’s This? Healthy Chocolate?!

It’s no secret to anyone who knows me that I’m a fiend for chocolate.  I also received healthy skin chocolate soft chews, which I have been snacking on when I have a craving for sweets.  It has the exact same texture of Tootsie Rolls; this is something I’m not a big fan of because I hate food sticking to my teeth.  And while this is no Ferrero Rocher, it tastes good enough considering that it’s good for you.  Made with 100% natural ingredients and contains multiple vitamins, healthy snacking is super easy with these chocolate soft chews.  3 chews a day = 90 calories.  Rating: B.

Disclosure: The products mentioned were sent to me by Genuine Health for consideration only.

7 Things About Me.

I was tagged by Amy a long time ago (so sorry!) so here it goes.

  1. I have a raunchy sense of humour.  LOL.  If you see me interact with my friends, you can usually hear me dropping innuendos or other dirty comments.  Not a lot people get it (or appreciate it) but it’s nice when people do get it.  Obviously, I wouldn’t be doing it in inappropriate company either.
  2. I’m a wimp.   Growing up I didn’t really have many fights with my siblings or parents, so I don’t know how to fight.  I’m learning though, but it’s pretty tough.  I avoid conflicts as much as I can if I can afford it.
  3. Every single day I look for sweeties — a.k.a. chocolate — in my house.  It’s an unhealthy addiction, but so damn worth it!
  4. I hate Starbucks lattes.  It tastes like milk with a hint of coffee.  What a waste of money!  I much prefer Second Cup (with a latte guarantee, no less!) or Timothy’s, whichever one is closer.
  5. I eat a bowl of Pho once a week.  Yes, again, unhealthy.  I’m trying to balance it with some exercise, LOL!  I work out so that I can eat.
  6. One of my favourite sounds is kitteh purr, preferably with a kitteh massage.  It’s like a little engine. :D
  7. You all know I’m a CCL (Crazy Cat Lady). :P  And so I got this shirt.  Yeah, I know.  I’m cool.

Your turn!

Let’s have it, ladies! :)  Post links to your blog entry or comment below.
