Move over, UDPP. Too Faced is my New Love.

Ladies, my Urban Decay Primer Potion has been dethroned. Meet my new love, Too Faced Shadow Insurance (CAD $24).

I think it’s just fair to do a comparison between the two.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance

  • Better texture, non-drying
  • Fantastic applicator
  • Lasts for about 8 hours before very minimal creasing

Urban Decay Primer Potion

  • Absolutely no creasing
  • God-awful packaging

I was skeptical on how well this would work out, since it applied a lot creamier than its Urban Decay counterpart. Because of this, it also takes more time to dry. But once it sets, it leaves a perfect clean base for your liner, eyeshadow, or nothing at all.

I find that UDPP was slightly better at controlling the oil slicks, but because of this it is also slightly drying to the skin around the eyes. I find that TFSI does the job well enough with very very minimal creasing. Also, I find that because TFSI is creamier, eyeshadows are easier to blend than when using UDPP.

Where TFSI wins big time over UDPP is in its packaging. I think the folks at Urban Decay is making a colossal FAIL by not changing their packaging by now. It’s such a pain to open up the awkwardly shaped bottle to scoop out extra product. I did this and used UDPP for 6 months out of a clean contact lens case, but it dried up so fast to be useful. With TFSI, I am guaranteed to squeeze out perfectly creamy product every. single. time.

The final verdict? I will continue to buy Too Faced Shadow Insurance until Urban Decay changes UDPP’s awful packaging. Rating: A.

Christmas Beauty Wishlist Rundown.

Yes I know. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, and I am just revealing my wishlist now? Some of these I already got, some I still want, and yet others that stunk!

The Winners

  1. NARS Blush in Sertao. Bought myself. Still gorgeous. My winter holiday bronzer.
  2. Too Faced Retractable Kabuki Brush. Gifted by my brother! It’s so soft and perfect for touch ups on the go.
  3. Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual. Gifted by my boyfriend! It’s like a beauty blog in a book. Heavenly. Makes me want a peach undereye corrector (see 3rd list below).
  4. Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo. Gifted by Aveda for my birthday (well, $10 of it)! It makes my hair very manageable, sometimes even without conditioner.

The Losers

  1. Givenchy Ange ou Demon EDT. What a major stink bomb! Smelled a million times better on magazine paper.
  2. Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes! Mascara. Maybe it’s because I got a sample size from Sephora — but I highly doubt it. It weighs down my lashes and honestly not that impressive. Good thing I never bought it.

Aaand I still want these badly…

  1. Lise Watier Eye Glitter Liner. I want to wear the silver glitter over black liquid eyeliner for my birthday. Soo tempting.
  2. A peach-coloured undereye corrector. I’m on to you, Benefit Erase Paste.
  3. Bond No. 9 Bonbons. It’s so very wrong to want such expensive perfume.

Okay! I’m done. What about you? I want to know your hits and misses this holiday season!
