Poof! The Magical Le Métier de Beauté Crème Caramel Lip Creme Doubles Your Lippie Stash In An Instant.

I visited NYC on a few balmy days of late August and met up with my friend Wands, also known as Xiao for everyone else. ;) Yes, we did some beauty shopping of course. Our first stop was Le Métier de Beauté at Bergdorf Goodman, where Xiao visits 5 out of 7 days a week (probably). After she showed me the entire product lineup (literally), I managed to be sensible and pick up only one item: Le Métier de Beauté Crème Caramel Lip Creme ($36).

Le Métier de Beauté Crème Caramel Lip Creme

Crème Caramel is a vanilla-scented frosty metallic rose mauve. Like other LMdB products, layering and mixing are encouraged with Lip Cremes. I find that they are easier to mix with liquid formulas, as I can just “smoosh” them together on my lips. On its own, Crème Caramel can be a little hard for me to pull off; it is frosty and on the cool side of the spectrum. However, when worn together with other products, Crème Caramel is absolutely dazzling. It just gives lips an elegant, luscious appearance.

Here are four fresh ways that I like to wear Crème Caramel.

Layered on top of nude lipstick (MAC Freckletone Lipstick)

This is the most obvious pairing with a glossy nude like Crème Caramel. This gives my favourite nude lipstick an extra ka-pow! This is a signature Beyonce lip.

Mixed with neutral lipgloss (Revlon Sunbaked Colorburst Lipgloss)

I wear this all the time with a mauve brown lipgloss. It brightens and warms up the complexion beautifully. I wore the lip combination in my Victoria’s Secret look and contouring tutorial.

Mixed with strawberry pink lipstick (Chanel Phoenix Rouge Allure Laque)

Are you peach or are you pink? Crème Caramel‘s golden tones totally change the look of this strawberry pink lipstick.

Mixed with red lipstick (Chanel Dragon Rouge Allure Laque)

I have to give credit to the SA at the LMdB counter at Bergdorf’s for this pairing. Red lipstick + Crème Caramel = pretty close to LMdB’s super popular Fraise Crème Lip Creme. So cute, right?

Inspired By Victoria’s Secret Glowing & Angelic Makeup

When it comes to makeup looks, I appear to be experimental here on the blog (check out all my looks here). However, on a day-to-day basis, I actually wear the same simple makeup. I wear a toned down version of this Victoria’s Secret runway look — from 2008, I think, but I could be wrong. I have been wearing a lot of the same products: MAKE UP FOR EVER #2 Sculpting Kit to contour, MAC Supercontinental Blush on the cheeks, a mix of Le Métier de Beauté Crème Caramel Lip Creme and Revlon Sunbaked Colorburst Lip Gloss.

The Victoria’s Secret look is actually very easy to do. It’s a simple formula, really: contoured cheeks, glowing bronzed skin, glossy pink lips, and a pearly champagne highlight on the eyes. Follow along to see how I created this look.

Get the Look

For the eyes, fill in the eyebrows with a taupe grey eyeshadow (MAC Brun and Coquette). Highlight the brows and inner corners with a pearly champagne (from CARGO Vienna quad). Apply a pearly beige (MAC All That Glitters) all over the lid. Use a matte taupe (MAC Coquette) to lightly contour the crease with a fluffy blending brush (MAC 217). Take the same eyeshadow with an eyeliner brush and run it along the lower lash line. Next, tap the fluffy blending brush lightly into a matte reddish brown (Mary Kay Sienna / review) and apply to the outer V and blend well. Line the lower lash line with the same eyeshadow.

Apply a thin winged eyeliner on the top lash line (Maybelline Master Precise Ink Pen Eyeliner), and then apply mascara. I opted to wear a natural set of false lashes (Ardell 109) to pump up the flirt factor. ;)

For the skin, after an illuminating primer (Laura Mercier Radiance Primer / review), foundation and concealer, brush on bronzer (Guerlain 03 Brunettes Terracotta Lightreview) on the forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. Sculpt the cheeks and temples with a contour powder (MAKE UP FOR EVER #2 Sculpting Kit).  Apply a shimmery highlight on the apples of the cheeks (MAC Pro Gold Studio Finish Face Powder / review). Then I layered a glowing pink blush (MAC Supercontinental / review) on the apples of the cheeks.

For the lips, I smoosh together a brownish pink lipgloss (Revlon Sunbaked) and a golden gloss (Le Métier de Beauté Crème Caramel).

Starry Night Sky Nails Using Impress Press-On Manicure and China Glaze Tinsel Town.

I don’t do many nail posts on Glitter Geek, and I have my reasons:

  1. The eczema on my hands are awful. On really bad days they are all up in my finger tips.
  2. Nail polish removers are one of the bad things I use that cause eczema flare-ups.  Beauty is pain, right?

Wrong.  No longer will I have to remove nail polish with toxic juice; not if I can use Impress Press-On Manicure in Color Me! * ($6.99).  They come in 18 solid colours ($6.99) and 18 patterns ($8.99).

Color Me! is special because you can design it however way you want. :)  I couldn’t think of a better way to try this out than a glittery manicure. Having this hard-to-remove formula on my fingers and knowing that I can peel them off when I am done with them is just… alskdfj;laksjd… I have no words.  It’s like a dream come true.

Since I just bought China Glaze Nail Polish in Tinsel Town ($6.50), I wanted to take her out for a spin.  It wasn’t totally opaque in one coat, so I know I could layer it over another colour.  I used two coats of Le Metier de Beauté Nail Polish in Midnight Rendezvous as a base, and topped it off with Seche Vite Top Coat.

As for the press-on nails, I really like the product.  They don’t look chunky and unnatural, but for someone who keeps her natural nails short and has small nail beds, I’m still getting used to having them.  There are 24 nail covers in 12 sizes, which means you can touch up if a nail cover falls off.  My impressions are that they are very firmly stuck to my nails (I’m on Day 2) and don’t think they are going to fall off anytime soon.

Starry Night Sky Manicure

I’m so happy to be able to wear glitter nail polish again without thinking about the headache of removing them later. :)  Aren’t my nails mesmerizing?  I can’t stop staring at them.  Have you tried press-on nails before?  What was your experience with them?

Impress Press-On Manicure By Broadway Nails are available now at Walmart, and in January 2012 at  Rexall Pharma Plus, London Drugs, Zellers and Jean Coutu.  More information on their website.
