Great news, beauty junkies! The famous UK brand, Charlotte Tilbury, has finally arrived in Canada exclusively at Holt Renfrew (Bloor Street for now, and Vancouver on the week of July 13). In addition, Canadian residents get free standard shipping from the Charlotte Tilbury website when you order until the end of June (so go right now!).
Oh, and Toronto: join in on the fun on Wednesday, June 24, 6-8 PM at Holt Renfrew Bloor, where Charlotte Tilbury herself will be making a public appearance! Trust me, you do not want to miss this opportunity. The woman is a genius!
As an introduction to the brand, I received one of ten signature looks in Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup wardrobe. The Glamour Muse Gift Box ($275, also available in Charlotte Tilbury US, Nordstrom and Beautylish) contains everything you need to create the Glamour Muse signature look. Inspired by the glamour icons from the ’70s, Glamour Muse is a party-all-night-and-we-won’t-stop kind of look. This is one for the makeup lovers, as you literally use all. of. the. makeup! and more is definitely more.
Inspiration for The Glamour Muse: ’70s Disco Queens
What’s great about Charlotte Tilbury is that not only is the formulation superb, but she also shows how to use the products on her YouTube channel. This inspired me to channel my own day and night versions of the look.
Day Look (Desk)
Prep the skin by moisturizing with Charlotte’s Magic Cream, and then prime the face with Wonderglow.
For the eyes in the day look, I kept the look office friendly by sticking with the neutral eyeshadow shades. Using The Glamour Muse Luxury Palette, apply the Enhance shade (shimmery mauve) all over the lid and lower lash line. Highlight the brow bone and inner corners with the Prime shade (shimmery shell pink). Then, take Rock ‘n’ Kohl Pencil in Barbarella Brown and apply it on the upper lash line and wing out slightly. Smudge to create a soft smoky effect. Smudge the Smoke shade (dark grey) on top of the pencil, going thicker as you move to the outer corner, and extend outwards slightly. Apply one coat of Full Fat Lashes in Glossy Black on top and bottom lashes.
For the cheeks, use Cheek to Chic in Love Glow using the swish and pop technique.
For the lips, shape and fill in the lips with Lip Cheat in Pillowtalk, then add shine with Lip Lustre in Candy Darling.
Night Look (Disco)
Take the look from desk to disco with a few quick additions.
For the eyes in the night look, apply the Smoke shade (dark grey) in the inner and outer crease, as well as eye socket, extending the shape outwards and up. Using a sponge applicator to pick up maximum pigment, apply the Pop shade all over the inner and outer third of the lid and along the crease, and run it along the lower lash line. Highlight the middle of the lid and brow bones with the Prime shade (shimmery shell pink). Then, re-apply Rock ‘n’ Kohl Pencil in Barbarella Brown on upper lash line, as well as the top and bottom waterlines. Apply another coat of Full Fat Lashes in Glossy Black and rock some false lashes if you wish!
For the cheeks, contour, highlight, and bronze the heck out of your face. Add more (moar!) blush using Cheek to Chic in Love Glow.
For the lips, add a bold pop of colour with K.I.S.S.I.N.G in Velvet Underground. Time to boogie!
Have you tried Charlotte Tilbury makeup (and skincare) before? What’s your favourite from the brand? If you haven’t, my picks would be the Cheek to Chic blushes, and Charlotte’s Magic Cream is pretty much that and a bag of chips. I actually can’t start my foundation routine without it. Also, I’m actually dying to get the Filmstar Bronze and Glow to get that glamour Beyonce face going on. Let me know what you have your eyes set on!
