New season, new beauty routine, right? Well, it’s a good time to spring clean your makeup regimen anyway, and an excellent excuse to go shopping for some great new products that launched recently. 😉
Opt for a weightless, luminous base.
My newest foundation crush is Guerlain Metéorites Baby Glow (shown in shade 4 Doré, $63). The shade, although named Golden, is slightly too pink for my current complexion*, but it works to impart a creamy skin tone. This is a trick usually done in the Asian market to neutralize strong yellow tones in Asian skin. I just love how this looks on. It provides that infamous subtle I-can’t-tell-what-you-did-differently-today-but-damn-girl-ya-look-good Metéorite pearl glow with the added benefit of a medium coverage foundation. You’ll notice in my photos that this doesn’t cover the pimple under my lip completely, but it does provide some coverage that I’m okay going sans concealer for a regular day with Baby Glow.
* Actually also now a little too pale for me because I just spent a week on a beach.
Get a wide eyed look with the right mascara.
Like a great push-up bra for your eyes, look for a mascara that’ll lift and separate your lashes. Benefit Roller Lash ($29) has a carefully designed Hook ‘n’ Roll™ brush that grabs on to each lash and separates, lifts and curls them. The mascara formula itself is lightweight to keep the curl all day.
Highlight, don’t contour that pretty face.
Don’t get mad at me. I myself am a big fan of contouring (tutorials here and here) but I think highlighting alone is so so pretty in the springtime. Especially coming out of winter when everyone is at their palest, you can easily botch a contouring job if you’re not careful. Highlighting pens are my weapons of choice, and the new Rodial Instaglam Glow ($36) is the perfect tool. Straight out of the pen, the product is super metallic and quite intimidating, but it sheers out to a believable subtle pearly glow.

Goodbye opaque matte lipsticks; hello juicy candy lips!
Burberry Kisses ($36) is the new line of lipsticks from the luxury beauty brand (with 28 shades in total!). If I was to describe it in a word, I would say bouncy. It is a gel formula that is hydrating and quite slippery on the lips. I received 37 Pink Peony and 73 Bright Coral for review, and both are lively shades that I’d happily wear this season. Personally though, this isn’t my favourite lipstick formula from Burberry Beauty. I think the sheer Lip Mists are a better choice if you like a more traditional lipstick formula.
