It seems that everyone’s in fall mode when it comes to beauty collections (including me! I can’t even!), but before I dive into those, I can’t forget to cover shu uemura eye event Summer Collection. It’s pretty damn amazing so I’m putting it on your beauty radar!
The shu uemura eye event collection consists of all eye products: eyeshadow palettes, new pencil eyeliners and a new mascara. I received a select few for review.
shu uemura ready-to-wear palette in pink hues
There are four ready-to-wear palettes ($85 each) in the collection: pink hues, black & white, warm brown and blue morning. I received pink hues, which contains a matte smokey dark purple, matte smokey dark bluish pink, G pink 135, pearl rosy pink, ME light pink 126, M soft beige 813.

Each of the eyeshadows are true to my experience of the shu uemura eyeshadows in the past: they apply opaque in one pass without any skipping. They are incredibly smooth and the colours swatch true to the pan. This particular palette would be absolutely amazing on fairer beauties, and unfortunately for me, the pinks are just too cool and run very ashy against my warm tan skin. I would probably wear that glitter shade along the inner corners or pat it on the lid on top of a brown eyeshadow because o hai, glitterz. *heart eyes*
shu uemura drawing pencils in ME pink 12 / M green black 02 / M blue black 03 / M black 01
Everybody needs a few of the shu uemura drawing pencils ($28). These are long-wearing creamy pencils. So creamy that they are perfect for the waterlines (just avoid the glittery shades for that). These pencils are so soft that the tip will break off if you press too hard, but trust me, you don’t need to press hard to get an intense colour payoff. These are amazing!

I have ME pink 12 (bright blue pink with silver glitter), M green black 02 (deep forest green), M blue black 03 (deep navy), M black 01 (deep black). Are we not excited about these moody hues? I don’t know about you but it’s putting me in a fall mood! My favourites are M green black 02 and M blue black 03; they are such great alternatives for a basic black. I do find that these set almost immediately, so you have to work super fast to get a smudged line if that’s the look you’re going for. For just a quick sharp line, these are solid choices. They are also so long-lasting that they need a good soaking of cleansing water and a bit of rubbing before they start to come off.
shu uemura petal lash mascara
For mascara, the new shu uemura petal lash mascara ($29) promises curl, length and volume all from an s-curved wand. The mascara itself is floral-scented, in case you’re weary of fragrances in your cosmetics. I like it, but it might not be for everyone.
Before and after wearing the shu uemura petal lash mascara
As for results, I think the before and after speaks for itself. petal lash mascara creates lashes so long and curled sky high that they actually touch my brow bone (yassss!). It gives “clean” volume and I think it can do better in that respect, but the curling and lengthening action is just too good that I’m willing to forgive them on that one.
