What Facial Feature Do You Notice First?

I’ve been thinking about this recently because I keep catching myself doing it! So you meet up with a friend or acquaintance. What facial feature of theirs do your eyes gravitate towards first? I’ve been noticing my eyes wander to their brows first. Don’t you dare! have bad brows (kidding!).

I’ve been looking back at past makeup looks and my brows sure have changed in a year. I think about how much more of an impact that Catwoman-inspired look would’ve had if my brows were a little thicker. Don’t you agree? I mean, this look is still one of my favourites of all time, but I almost want to recreate it with my now fuller brows.

Glitter Geek brows then and now
Above: my brows now, and from last year

It’s different for guys, though (except of course if they have perfectly manicured / arched / scary brows). On men, I tend to look at their eyes. Their eye colour and shape, their eyelashes (and get extremely jealous if they’re super long), and if they’re making eye contact. Never underestimate the power of good eye contact. :)

But speaking of brows, what’s your current brow routine like? I’m really happy with mine right now. I tweeze with a pink slanted Tweezerman ($26), fill in sparse spots with MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Brows in #40 ($24 / review), and then add fullness + brush into place with Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep ($26). Actually, I haven’t seen my Gimme Brow since Monday and you could say that I am freaking out. I might have to run out and get it so that I can do a proper review!

Now tell me – do you find yourself looking at a specific facial feature on people?

Hmmm I can’t really say! I guess I look at eyes first, and then whatever is on the person’s face that I deem as more interesting? With some it’s lips, with others cheekbones, and I do also look at eyebrows sometimes! I also tweeze mine with Tweezerman, and I fill them in with Hourglass Soft Brunette Arch. I have been curious about the Benefit brow gel. I hope you’ll do a review soon (and I bet Scherbs has something to do with its disappearance)!

Oooh how do you like the Hourglass brow stuff? I’m curious!

I found my Benefit Gimme Brow! It rolled down to the floor… which is hardwood, so it was camouflaged. :)

The Hourglass brow pencil is my absolute HG! The shape makes it easy to define my arch, and the shade is SPOT-ON! Glad to hear you found your brow gel, and I owe Scherbs an apology LOL

I’ve evolved over the years and now I notice eyebrows. I can’t. stop. looking at them. Probably because they have so much potential and are the most underrated feature.

Agreed! Eyebrows are super super important. When someone has bad brows, it’s just so distracting!

Brows for sure! I love a good eyebrow. I look at anyone’s eyebrows whom I’m speaking with. So next time I see you know that I’ll be checking out your brows! Luckily yours are fab!! :)

Hahaha I know we’re supposed to make eye contact but looking at eye brows is still eye contact right? Still part of the eyes?? LOL!

I can’t decide which brows I like better. Both are fierce and suit you.

      Thanks Sarah S! :)

Oh wow! Love your new brows! Haha, how did you get them to grow out so nicely? hands off the tweezer?

Hands off for about 6 months. Only the really scraggly hairs get tweezed. :) Patience!!!

I looooove the full brows on you Arianne. It’s a look I can’t really pull off without looking rather…Susan Boyl-ish ahha. Anyway I always notice eyes first. Then…..well whatever is the most made up facial feature!

LOL Susan Boyl! I think you can pull it off, too! I think just make sure that there’s still an arch and not just straight across.

I have awful brows (you know this already).. but lately I have just neglected even shading them in. Call it Baby Laziness.
