The Toronto International Film Festival is in full swing in the city. Like oh my god you guys, Benedict Cumberbatch is breathing the same air as me! But I digress.
L’Oréal Paris is the official beauty sponsor for TIFF 2013. They have released a limited edition, luxurious collection: L’Oréal Collection Privée lipsticks ($10.99) and coordinating nail polishes ($3.99) personalized for L’Oréal’s celebrity spokesmodels.

Canada gets four shades, representing Freida Pinto, Eva Longoria, Doutzen Kroes and Jennifer Lopez. Each shade is nude, with undertones to complement that of the spokesmodels’.
Freida’s Nude is a mauve nude with silver pearl. This cool shade works well for those with pink undertones to their skin. On myself, I feel that it clashes with my warm skin tone.
Wearing Freida’s Nude
Eva’s Nude is a medium peach with subtle golden pearl. Great shade for warm, medium-to-dark skin tones (hey, that’s me!). This peachy shade is the most opaque of the bunch, so it’s more difficult to pull off if you have fair pink skin.
Wearing Eva’s Nude
Doutzen’s Nude is a frosted baby pink. This surprisingly works for my skin tone, even though it is the lightest of the bunch. It applies the most sheer out of the four, and it just lightens my natural lip colour a touch for a more dressed up look.
Wearing Doutzen’s Nude
J Lo’s Nude is a a neutral pink nude. In other words: perfection. I think we have a winner here. Perfectly complementing that infamous J Lo glow, this nude shade has the perfect balance of warm and cool tones to make a universally flattering shade. Love!
Wearing J Lo’s Nude
Each shade is easy to wear because it’s on the sheer side, but this can also be built up to a medium coverage with 3-4 swipes straight from the tube. The lipsticks have a subtle fruity scent that isn’t noticeable after 10 seconds on the lips. If you want a full coverage nude, these aren’t for you. These pair wonderfully with a smokey eye like I did here, but they also make great everyday nude shades for a “no makeup” makeup look.
Are you heading down to TIFF this week? Make sure you stop by the L’Oréal Paris Beauty Lounge, located at David Pecaut Square (east of Roy Thomson Hall Corner King West and John Street) to get a touch up with a Collection Privée product.
Which Collection Privée nude lipstick is your favourite? How would you wear them on the red carpet? How lightheaded will I get if I ever get a glimpse of Benedict Cumberbatch in real life? Very. /swoons
