Wishlist: Anticipating Fall 2013

I’m that girl who wears dark lipstick on the day after Labour Day. I can’t help it. Autumn is my favourite makeup season. Unlike summer when I don’t want to wear anything besides brow pencil, concealer and mascara, fall is when I can wear moar! and everything will stay in place. The crisp autumn air is so romantic to me, and just want to get dolled up during this short but sweet season.

I can’t narrow my choices down to one dark lipstick, so I picked two in my favourite formulas: a matte Givenchy Le Rouge in 307 Grenat Initié ($38 at Sephora), and a glossy MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Rouge in 13 Purple ($29 at Sephora). Want to see more shades? See reviews and swatches Givenchy Le Rouge in 102 Beige Plume and 301 Magnolia Organza here, MUFE Aqua Rouge in 9 Burgundy here and 18 Coral here.

The colder wind inevitably leaves my skin a little blotchy and dry, so I covet the radiant creamy complexion that NARS Radiant Cream Compact Foundation ($43 at Sephora + $12 for refillable compact at Sephora) promises. I’m a huge fan of the Radiant Creamy Concealer (reviewed here) so I have high hopes that the cream compact foundation will also be a dream.

I’ve been going through a painful growing out process with my hair since October 2011 (!!!) and it’s at a point where it tangles all the time. I haven’t really had a hair brush I love. I think I’m ready to fall in love with Mason Pearson Pocket Bristle & Nylon Hair Brush ($97 at eBeauty.ca, Bergdorf Goodman). That price though? That’s tough to swallow, but I’ve also read that a well-cared-for Mason Pearson brush lasts through generations. As long as Mr. Geeks doesn’t know when I purchase this… we’re good. 😉

Last but definitely not least, a hair tool: InfinitiPRO by Conair Curl Secret (about $120, available in September). So here’s the deal: I have somehow become a moron when it comes to curling my hair. I just can’t anymore. InfinitiPRO by Conair Curl Secret does all the work for you in so little time. In 8 to 12 seconds, it can transform my ultra straight hair into bouncy waves that I want all the time. I was at the media reveal event in June and look, guys!

Pardon the caption… my iPhone autocorrected Conair to Console. Blasphemy!

Now tell me, what are you coveting for the upcoming fall season? Did any of the above catch your eye? 😉

  • aaaaah, I totally want that Conair thingie! I saw Babyliss has it too, but it’s like 200 euros here O.O. Love that matte red lippie,I need more of those lipsticks :p.

    • Yeah the Conair and Babyliss are coming out around the same time here. I’m going to get whichever one comes first!

You love the Le Rouge, too right? They are so incredible. Best ever.

  • I WANT SOMETHING THAT CURLS MY HAIR FOR ME. I don’t think I’ve ever curled my hair.

Ever. My mum may have done it once or twice, but I’ve never touched one on my own, LOL.

    • Hahhaa you’re my favourite, Larie.

  • Lindsay Smith

They STILL don’t have the NARS concealer in my shade at my local Sephora. I left them my phone number two months ago. Curses.

    • That’s ridiculous. You should go again! They probably lost your number.

  • I’m itching for a vampy lip, but I’m not sure which route I want to go. Sonia Kashuk Satin Luxe has a new shade Spiced Berry but I don’t think it’s deep enough. Urban Decay’s Shame looks awesome in arm swatches, but more brown on some lip swatches. Maybe something from Bite will fill the void, but I don’t even know what finish I want (what’s your favorite finish on vampy lips?). Sigh. I do this to myself every year.

    • Mattes are easiest if you’re worried about it going all over the place, unless of course you go with MUFE Aqua Rouge which does NOT go anywhere. 🙂

Creams are hardest I find as they can feather and then it just looks horrible.

  • Lily

I’m intrigued by the Conair Curl Secret! I have no idea how to curl my own hair so this looks like heaven 🙂

    • Haha Lily, same! Some days it works out, but other days it’s just so frustrating! It’s nice to have something that’ll do the job for you, ya know?

  • Icequeen81

sound like great choices , the lipstick for sure, I have curls so the app wont be necessary . But I need that brush for sure, to prevent frizz

  • Icaria

Oh I am so not looking forward to fall! I’d love to get a Mason Pearson but I hit a wall when I see the price! 🙂

  • Toya

Fall is definitely my fave month too Arianne! Something about that crisp air combined with the lingering sunshine from summer…can’t beat it 🙂 I keep holding off on buying any vampy lip colors because I have one – MAC Bing from AGES ago – that I still haven’t mastered how to wear. But every time I see new ones, I WANT! Maybe I just need to buy a really FABULOUS one like the Givenchy…

    • I vote Givenchy! 🙂 Best formula. Everyone agrees! 😉

  • omg that Conair gadget! How does it even work?? My mind is blown.

Love this wishlist btw. I think you should go for it and get a Mason Pearson, almost every stylist I’ve talked to loves that brush. I’m still doing my oh-so-pro finger combing routine, but perhaps someday…

  • fall is my fav season as well 🙂 I vote for that givenchy lipstick this colour is just made for fall! I am curious about that nars compact foundation, I have hopes it is kinda jelly and not that typical thick cream xxx

  • JessicaGettingCheeky

Fall is my favorite season and your wish list has got me all crazy for the weather change! I’ve been intrigued by the NARS foundation. As much as I love my precious Giorgio Armani Maestro, I’m thinking of making the switch.

    ♥ Jessica

  • Liz

How do you keep your list so short? lol Please buy the lipsticks and show us some FOTDs. 😀

  • I haven’t tried the Nars foundation. Hmmm, but I just went on a binge of lipsticks. I actually got the Train Bleu colour from Nars which is way darker than I usually go, but fall is great for a vampy lip.

  • ok pretty much want all those things too….like now. I am so hunting down that curler in September

  • Jessica

My mom still has a Mason Pearson hairbrush that she got in the early 70’s that is still in good condition! She does take really good care of it, though. I tried it once and it’s a really incredible hairbrush. As long as they’re made as well as they used to be it’s a great investment!
