Leave Your (Under Eye) Baggage Behind: NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer Review, Photos, Swatches

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer launched with a big bang in early March, so I hightailed it to my NARS counter to pick up my shade. This concealer has been getting exceptional reviews from the beauty community; it is loved by both makeup enthusiasts and artists alike.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer Custard 1

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (CDN $30 / US $28 at NARS counters and online) is the brand’s new line of lightweight concealer “enriched with hydrating, multi-action skincare benefits and light diffusing technology.” The ten shades target imperfections, fine lines and signs of fatigue and “create a softer, smoother complexion.” These promise to be crease-proof and long wearing.

My under eye shade is Custard (yellow tone for light to medium complexion). The light-reflecting properties in Radiant Creamy Concealer works amazingly well under the eyes to counteract my dark purple circles. This shade is lighter than my foundation shade, and doubles as a natural highlight without crossing into Kardashian concealer territory. If I were to use this anywhere else on my face, I’ll need a darker shade than Custard.

I make sure that my under eye area is well moisturized (this eye cream by Biotherm rocks!) before applying this concealer. Even though it is creamy, I didn’t find it to be moisturizing at all. This sticks to dry spots on the inner corners of my eyes.

I found a really excellent guide for concealing under eye baggage on Maskcara via Pinterest. The photo below demonstrates where I applied this concealer. I highlight beyond the baggage area in an inverted triangle to lift it, not emphasize it. Apply down the centre of the nose to create a subtle illusion of a thinner nose without the use of dark contouring creams or powders.

Wearing NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

The thing I most like about NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer: it doesn’t look like anything on, yet the brightening effect is apparent. It creates a well-rested youthful look. I look 17 again. I wouldn’t be surprised if I get carded while wearing NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. ;) It lasts an entire work day on me with minimal fading, but the convenient packaging and applicator makes it easy for me to touch up any faded areas after work.

This has already replaced two of my under eye favourites: MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter and MAC Pro Longwear Concealer. That’s huge, you guys. This is so easy to use and it saves me time in the morning. :)

Great news to sensitive skin types: this is paraben-free, alcohol free, synthetic fragrance free and non-comedogenic. Look good and feel great! Have you tried NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer? What are your thoughts on its formula and performance?

  • http://macyxmakeup.blogspot.com/ Macy

I have horribly dry undereyes, and I can use the most moisturizing eye cream and they still have dry patches! I hate when concealers stick to the dry patches! :(

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Oh no, so sorry to hear Macy! Have you found a concealer that works for you? How about Benefit Fake Up?

      • http://macyxmakeup.blogspot.com/ Macy

I’ve actually only found one that works! It’s the Maybelline Dark Circle Eraser in Brightner! I have very fair skin, so I need something very light and moisturizing! I’ve never tried Benefit Fake Up though!

        • TracyBeautyReflections

I’m like you Macy. This one is too dry for me even with a really good moisturizer. That Maybelline Brightner works for me too as does the L’Oreal Lumi one. Wish I was like Geekz and I could wear it and look 17 again too!

          • http://macyxmakeup.blogspot.com/ Macy

I have not tried the L’Oreal Lumi one! Might have to check it out! Thanks for the suggestion! :)

  • http://thesmalllittlethingsinlife.blogspot.com/ Annick

Wow, it really makes a difference to your whole face! Too bad it can stick to dry patches – lucky my, I have pretty much none since I have oily skin. You look lovely as always Arianne :)

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Thanks Annick! Yeah, a good eye cream is key for those who have dry spots.

  • http://www.bellachique.be/ Teri

You have exactly the same two favourite products for the under eyes so if the Nars one is even better in your opinion I might just get it, lol. You skin looks amazing in the pictures; bright and very flawless, so jealous! ^^

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Hi Teri! I was really surprised the first time I tried this on. I actually had Prep+Prime and Pro Longwear concealer on, and the difference between that combo and NARS is ASTOUNDING. Hope you do give it a try. :)

  • http://kelly-yes.blogspot.com Kelly

love it! I can definitely see the brightening effect! I just want to check out the shades in person and then I will be purchasing this.

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

      Yay! Enjoy it Kelly. :)

Hey Arianne, great to hear this is working for you! I use Honey for my undereye area (I have the NARS stick concealer in Custard for the rest of my face), and it works pretty well. I also have to pair it with an eye cream that’s moisturizing enough for it not to crease, but other than that it’s really pretty low-maintenance!

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Hi Sunny! How is the NARS stick concealer? Curious about it now. :)

      • http://twitter.com/mostlysunnyblog Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Arianne, I’ve had it for quite a while now and I’d say half of it is gone! It has good consistency, decent coverage, and great lasting power! I haven’t tried a lot of concealers but there’s almost nothing about this one that I’m not happy with.

    • brigidbeauty

Sunny– Honey is my under-eye shade too!! xo Christine

  • shadowy Lady

I always love your reviews and the pictures help a lot. For the first time in my life, I feel like I need an under eye concealer (u know being a mom to a baby). I wanted to get this one and wanted to get Custard as well. Do you think I should get that or a lighter shade? I think I’m fairly lighter than you (Nars Santa Fe, MAC NW25).

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

You might want to check out Custard or Honey. Honey is more peach toned, which works incredibly on dark circles. :)

  • http://MariaAguilar.ca/ Maria Aguilar

Looks amazing! Can’t wait to try these out!

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

It’s sooo good, Maria! Can’t wait to hear what you think.

    Lemming: created *___*
This looks seriously awesome! Must snag a sample soon so I can see if it plays nicely with my dry undereye skin

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Try a sample for sure, Angela. :)

  • http://MyLuciteDreams.com/ MyLuciteDreams

This works for you! It does look very natural!

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

      Thanks Taylor!

  • http://www.stephaniefusco.com/ Stephanie Fusco

This is on my to-blog-about list! It’s SO amazing. I’ve been using it for the past month or so and I can’t get over how amazing and awake it makes me look. I was a little uncertain about getting the Vanilla shade, but it brightens me right up and lasts all day. So much love!

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Can’t wait to read all about it, Stephanie. :)

  • http://mybeautysample.com/ Becca @ The Beauty Sample

This looks great on you, Arianne! Very subtle but definitely brightening! And the texture looks so, so lovely…I have been really liking these more creamy, fluid concealers!

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Thanks Becca! Me, too! Pro Longwear was starting to feel like cement and heavy on my under eye area.

  • TracyBeautyReflections

You look MAHVELOUS! Wish it wasn’t so dry for me. :(

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Thanks Tracy! I think maybe I’ll use a hydrating primer on dry spots… but then that defeats the purpose of a quick and easy product lol.

  • Kassie lee

oooooh I love this, def have to put this on my wishlist

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

      Wishlist it, definitely! :)

  • brigidbeauty

Ohhh, yes. The beautiful illusion of Nars face products. I just LOVE their shade selection and brightening effects of foundation, TM, etc., and this concealer is no exception. But they are always so difficult on my skin in terms of texture– drying, or causing breakouts… it makes me so so sad because I feel I get a glow from their face products like no other!

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Boo! That’s awful! I don’t use any other NARS face stuff, but I have tried samples of Sheer Glow and it has such a beautiful finish. It’s really bad that they don’t jive with your skin. :(

  • http://twitter.com/OliviaFrescura Olivia Frescura

I got this last month and I’m really loving it! Still have to review, though ;)

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Yay another NARS Radiant Creamy lover! :)

  • http://www.glambunctious.com/ Kristen / Glambunctious

Yass! You do look 17 again! I have to agree, this concealer doesn’t “look” like anything on, but it makes a huge difference! I applied it to one eye only and took pictures and the difference was amazing! I kind of wanted my shade to be Custard strictly b/c I liked that name better than my actual shade match, Vanilla! Wish it was something like “Malted Milk” or “Whipped Cream”. Names matter! ;)

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Hahaha agreed Kristen! Vanilla is just “so vanilla.” I find Laura Mercier really names the foundations well. :P

  • http://twitter.com/xbeautyobsessed Latoya

Oh frig. I’ve been tossed up between this, trying MAC’s Pro Longwear again (I had a sample a while back) and Ellis Faas’ concealer, but now I’m pretty sure I’m going to go for this (and, easier to access than Ellis!). You look great here Arianne! BTW – loving the hair, lookin’ very sleek and chic girl!

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Thanks Toya! :) I like this so much more than Pro Longwear. It’s not as heavy, especially when I have flaky eyelids.

  • http://twitter.com/bronzerbunny Joyce

i definitely need to try this – every time i read a review, I want it more! It looks really good on you!

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

      Thanks Joyce!

  • http://makeupmorsels.wordpress.com Makeup Morsels

hahahah Kardashian concealer territory, oh man that’s so spot-on. I NEED this stuff, I pretty much forgot about undereye concealer for the majority of the year and then this week I looked in the mirror and was like holy crap my dark circles are actually TAKING OVER MY FACE. Yikes. Gonna go check these out as soon as I’m home for summer.

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Hahaha dark circles have been ON MY FACE since start of university. Bloody hell!

  • DivaDebbi

I just purchased it and I love it too! Really love how you showed your readers how well this looks on you. Im getting ready to blog about it now. This may be the best concealer I have ever used!

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Thanks for the sweet words, DivaDebbi! :)

  • yue

    Hello, Arianne!

I’m not from U.S.A., but I’m determined to find this online, hopefully to try it.

I’m not sure what my color would be, if someone can help me please!
I use MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in C3, but they always say to use Studio Finish Concealer in NW25.
    What my color would be?

    Thank you for your help!

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Hi yue! I think maybe Custard or Honey would be a good fit for you. Honey would be better for under eyes, but for the rest of your face, Custard would probably blend better. I hope that helps.

      • yue

My undereye circles are very dark, I think Honey will brighten them up.
Thank you very much for the help!

        • Fidela

if you are NW I think honey will be better for you- it’s more peachy. Custard is quite yellow

  • http://eyeheartit.blogspot.com Larie

Oy, that link was helpful, thanks! Pinned it!

And now I think maybe I will give this a go (although I am liking the Benefit one as a sort of base at the moment). I thought it might be too dry, but then you said it was dry but still works…so I’ll have to take a look. Now I have to color match, ugggh T_T Thanks for the review, REN :P

  • Fidela

I love this concealer so much!
I used to have the custard/ginger nars duo concealer set.It was a perfect skin-tone match, something which is not easy for me to find in the UK(I am medium olive skin with strong yellow tones, many products in the UK tend to pink undertones or orange) but I had to stop using it because the consistency didn’t agree with my skin particuarly my under eyes, where it looked so cakey.
I am just so happy that the concealers are now in creamy format too.
I love my custard one :)

  • Louisa

    Hi, thanks for the review.
Since Nars doesn’t sell in the Middle East, had to order online. Heard so much about that concealer that I had to buy it but I find it really dry???? For a creamy concealer, it wasn’t creamy at all and the TM wasn’t radiant, I’m very disappointed oh well, I’m sad! :(

  • Christine

Is that just lipgloss you’re just wearing on your lips?? Which one? So pretty and natural!

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Hi Christine! Yes it’s lipgloss. I used Elizabeth Grant Light Up Your Lips lipgloss in Natural.
