So… I kinda took a while with these (sorry!). I’m getting the rest of the collection in one shot with reviews and swatches-slash-Geeks-face-fest! Hope you enjoy the ride. :)

First up, there are three new shades of YSL Crème de Blush ($52). Nº 7 Red Agate is rose pink. Nº 8 Baby Doll is brownish red. Nº 9 Rose Quartz is light yellow-toned pink. Below are very heavy swatches so you can see the colour, and also the mousse-like texture of these blushes. These cream blushes dry down to a velvety powder finish.

In a pinch, I use my fingers with these blushes, but I find that synthetic brushes work better. I really like Real Techniques Contour brush from the Core Collection ($27.99 at FarleyCo and Walmart in Canada!) with these. Brushes let you apply the product in even, thin layers, and build the product on the skin if you need to. With my fingers, sometimes it gets to thick and ends up looking thick and patchy. When applied correctly these blushes produce believable radiant, blushing skin.

Nº 7 Red Agate is bright rose pink. I think this will be flattering on every skin tone.

Nº 8 Baby Doll is brownish red. While looking like a scary brown in the pan (kinda like old blood… ahhahaa gross!), this produces the most natural blush on my medium skin tone. This is my favourite of the bunch.

Nº 9 Rose Quartz is light yellow-toned pink. I think this is more suited for fair skin. On me, I feel it’s not that special and looks too fake.

Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres in Nº 27 Pêche Cerra-Colla ($34) is light milky peach. I was not a fan of this formula before, but I think that was more due to the shades I used (too similar to my lip colour, or too bold). Nº 27 Pêche Cerra-Colla is just right. I love how this peach colour brightens my face. The glossiness not only sticks around for about 2 hours but also dries down to a not-so-sticky state. I’d say that is pretty impressive. This particular shade fades evenly and I love it!

I’m borrowing a photo from my YSL Spring 2013 “Crazy Fairy” look to show you the glossy stain in its full face glory. Pretty colour, right?

What are you wearing on your lips in the blush swatch pics? Pretty!

Hi Jane! I’m wearing Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lipstick in Pastille Rosebud, patted on the lips to create a stain instead of a super crisp lip. :)

Baby Doll is really pretty, but I really thought that’d be the name of one of the other two shades here.

I know, @Procrast1nato2:disqus. I had a really hard time with these names. Hahaha

I love Red Agate, amazing shade! I always liked the glossy stains but I loathe the scent of them. Luckily they fade away. That last look is amazing btw, really love the pop of colour under your eyes ^^

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca/ Arianne

Yeah I really don’t like the scent of the glossy stains either, Teri! Thank you!

Ooh Baby Doll! I though the name would be for a pale pink. The shade does look so much more gorgeous on than in the pan! I do love them all on you. I’ve always wanted to try these, I’ll remember the brush tip! Thanks :-)

Loooove the YSL Glossy Stains! I just did a review on one of them, actually!

I like the way the creme de blush looks, but I have oily skin – do you think they would stay put or tend to slide off?

With a name like Baby Doll I was totally expecting a pale pink color – like baby doll cheeks! Went back to make sure I was reading the names in the right order! These are just stunning on you! I’ve just entered the world of cream blushes with LM Oleander. I have to say I’m loving it so far. Color longevity is awesome & my face doesn’t ‘eat’ my blush like it sometimes does with a powder blush. I was concerned because I have oily skin that the cream blush might make me oilier or that the color would just slide off but neither has happened!

The blushes are so so so pretty, love the packaging and the texture, the pigment is great to. Thanks for sharing

    Great post.
I cant believe Real Techniques is available at Walmart in canada! The price jump is a little ridiculous. Iherb is where I got mine with free canadian shipping.
I dream one day to try YSL!

Love this collection, esp the glossy stain and Red Agate on you. Crazy fairy FTW!

Every single blush shade looks so soft and pretty and natural on you–love!! Perfect for spring! And I NEED that peach gloss-stain. Haven’t tried this formula yet but I’ve heard good things. The color though…WOW! 😀

  • lilladylife

you looks so incredibly fresh faced and that glossy stain looks like peach perfection!

While I always love a pretty blush (and you’re right – Baby Doll is perfection!), I’m not sure I can cough up the money for one of these, sadly :( I LOVE the Glossy Stain here, what a great shade, Arianne!! I bought one last year, and while I liked it, I think I had the same experience – it was too close to my natural lip color or something. Must try these again!

FYI the names of Baby Doll and Red Agate were flipped in our press material in error. That’s why it doesn’t seem to make sense. 😉 I love these blushes so much! I need the other shades!

  • Trayceee

Just a followup message. Found the RT Brush sets (core, travel, and eye) at Walmart here in Ottawa and the price was less than $1 more expensive. I picked up the travel essentials for $18.67!

ooo pretty glossy stain! it looks so good on you :)

  • LeCarpe

I’m really confused, looking at swatches from different blogs, it would appear that the colours are muddled up?
