One Step Closer to Becoming a Ballerina: Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick in Ballet Review, Photos, Swatches

I’m back with more Hourglass love this week. I just can’t help it. Today I adooooore Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick in Ballet ($35, Sephora), a vibrant pink. This cream finish lipstick is a bit on the dry side, but that also means that it lasts longer than the usual cream lipstick. It gives the lips a plump appearance by imparting a slight sheen on the lips. It is fully opaque in one pass. The lipstick is lightly scented and I find it quite pleasant.

Ballet’s light vibrant pink colour doesn’t lean too blue, so those with a golden undertone like myself can still wear her beautifully. If you’re unsure, pair with a brightening pink blush like I did and you. will. love. 🙂

For those who worry about harmful ingredients in their cosmetics, Hourglass formulates the lipstick to contain no parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes, or phthalates. If you fall in love with this lipstick, lipstick refill cartridges are available to buy as well. Look good and feel good, am I right? 🙂

I, of course, had to quickly put my hair up in a sock bun for this occasion. A lipstick named Ballet does this to me.

Now if you’d excuse, I need to find my tutu.

Have you tried Hourglass Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick before? What do you think of the formula?

  • LOL so did you find your tutu?

Ballet is lovely on you! I have Icon and it is one of the few blue-based reds that actually looks that way on me (my skin tone has the capacity of turning many reds warm, or simply not so bright). It is SO moisturizing, but it doesn’t move around. Kudos to Hourglass!

    • I found a tutu on the Anthropologie site for a ridiculous amount of $$$. So no. Haha.

But thanks Sunny! I have to look at Icon. You’re totally right. This stuff doesn’t slip and slide.

  • Such a pretty colour on you! I can’t decide between this or their liquid lipsticks. You really got me excited about the brand tho, keep them coming :p

  • TOBeautyReviews

Gah love it!!! You look so good with your hair up like that! That colour is sooo pretty! I haven’t tried any of the colours from Hourglass just the foundation. Must check it out!

    • Thanks Elaine! 🙂 You have to try!

  • …Am I allowed to cry over how beautiful you are?? Little V started ballet last fall so your look immediately has me picturing what she’ll look like when she’s older 🙂 I need to take your advice and master the pink lip and cheek combo. I have a difficult time feeling confident in softer/lighter pinks. With a mandarin orange lip confidently under my belt, I’m taking a step back and making it my goal to find a pink that is *the one* this spring.

    • Hahaha thanks so much Alison.

I find that I can wear pink easily in the winter, but not so much in the summer. You probably need to find something that’s a medium pink rather than a light pink like Ballet.

  • Bambi_Twelvetrees

The color is sooo pretty and it fits so well to your skintone.
Its such a damn pity that Hourglass and other interesting brands are not available in germany … wahhh :c

    • Aw man that’s too bad! I hope you have a friend in the UK to get one to you. 🙂 They are a great luxury brand.

  • Love this! You look so glowy, soft and pretty. That bun is a must I tell you!

  • this looks great on you. these vibrant pinks always scare me when it comes to lipstick. love your sock bun!

    • Must wear a pink blush to complement the pink lips. 🙂 You’d rock this too, Kelly!

  • This colour is beautiful! And you look stunning 🙂 x

  • The Unprofessional Beauty Blog

This color is absolutely beautiful. It kind of looks different on your lips than in tube. I love the bright pink, and it looks great on you.

    • It looks cooler in undertone on me than in the tube, eh? But I love it!

  • I love Hourglass liquid lipsticks but I’ve never tried these lippies. Ballet looks gorgeous on you. 🙂

    • You must try these as well. 🙂 They are really nice lipsticks.

  • You are a doll! I simply adore the sock bun pairing. This is such a lovely shade for you! I’m Love it!

  • OH IT IS PRETTY! it might be too lilac on me though. SAD FACE!

  • Paris B

Aww look at you, Arianne! The lipstick is such a lovely brightening shade and I love what you did with your hair!
