OMG You Need This! MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Brow Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector Review, Photos, Swatches

Imagine you’re in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.  Zombies are trying to bash your front door in, but they haven’t discovered the back door (yet).  You need to think fast: grab your absolute essential makeup to take with you, so that your friends and family cannot mistake you for a zombie.  GO!

Brow filler.

What’s that?  You never fill in your brows?  But why?  Former makeup artist Jeremy Renner (!!!) agrees with me.  This requires another (!!!).

Properly groomed and filled in brows polishes and completes a makeup look, however simple or dramatic it is.  I recently picked up MAKE UP FOR EVER Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector in No. 4 Dark Brown Black ($22) and damn!  This is powerful stuff.  I first read about and saw this product on gorgeous Jenny of My Funny Valentine. UPDATE: These are currently being phased out for the new Aqua Brows. It is the same formula with more shades. No. 4 Dark Brown Black is the same shade as Aqua Brow in #40 Brown Black.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Brow Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector in No. 40

The eyebrow corrector is a creamy liquid formula.  I put a very tiny dab of it on the back of my hand (you need less than you think), pick up the product with an angled liner/brow brush, then fill in my brows as usual.  Be careful about shading in your brows; try to “stay within the lines” because this is difficult to take off without a makeup remover.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Brow Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector in No. 40 Dark Brown Black

I usually fill in my brows with pencil and/or powder eyeshadow (click here to see my tutorial on how I fill in my eyebrows), but they no longer perform well for me when humidity and sweat is in the picture.  Hello, that’s Toronto summer for you.  I need my brow product to stay with me through my sweaty bike rides, and sometimes, rain.  Today was one of those days.  Insanely humid and I was a big ol’ sweat ball.  This did not move at all.  Perfect brows, baby!  All day long.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector in No. 40 swatch

I actually wanted to buy the shade No. 3 Dark Ash Brown, but it was sold out.  No. 4 Dark Brown Black is darker and cooler than No. 3.  I went back to make the exchange, but realized that No. 3 is too warm toned and light for me. I’m keeping this shade!

MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Brows in 10, 20, 30, 40 swatches

I went to another Sephora today to swatch the rest of the shades to show you the other options.  No. 10 is a great shade for lightest blondes to light brunettes.  No. 20 will work with auburn hair.  Both No. 30 and No. 40 are great options for medium to dark brunettes.  Sorry guys, I swatched these the wrong way (too heavy), but this shows you the difference between the shades.

Although I have a lot of brow hair, they are an awful shade of grey that just doesn’t work for me.  A little bit of brow corrector and boom!  I look like a normal human being.

Before and After MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Brow Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector in #40 Dark Brown Black

This is a game changer, you guys.  I don’t say that often.  Waterproof, sweat-proof brows with zero crunchiness.  Hallelujah!

Now… say it with Jeremy! 😉

Brows. Lashes. Lips. Frame the face.

Okay woman you’re too pretty for words. I need to try this but I’m kinda scared of the liquidness. also recently i forgot how to fill in my brows :(

One and a half month more <3

    • Arianne

Wands! If you’re worried about the liquidness, I think the trick is to lightly apply to the hairs instead of the skin to tint the brow hairs. When you tint the skin then it gets pretty dark.

It’s not hard to get used to. :)

  • Sunny @ Mostly Sunny

EEE so I just saw this at the MUFE store here and I was really curious! Looks like I’ll have to go back and GET IT!!! I think shade 2 will already work for me, as my brows are naturally very light and if I fill them in too much it looks way too harsh. I like how natural your brows look with this corrector!

    • Arianne

I saw your post!! Shade 2 is pretty warm so I’d say stay away from it. Try 0 or 3, Sunny!

  • Soha

Oh MAN. I need this NOW. I fill in my eyebrows with powder eyeshadow and have to reapply often in this gross humidity (ugh Southwestern Ontario is the WORST). Thanks for sharing!

    • Arianne

No no Soha, you’ll never have to reapply with THIS STUFF. :) Good luck!

  • Danielle

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I too heard about this from Jenny when she filmed a video on how she applies it. Seems like such a great idea and shade 0 might be a perfect match for a powder product I’m currently using. I don’t have trouble with it lasting, but I’d like to try this to see if it gives mine the “oopmh” it gave yours! :)

    • Arianne

Shade 0 will work wonders for you, Bloomz! :) It really polishes up eyebrows beautifully.

  • Larie

I’m with Xiao on this one – I want to trryyy, but I’m afraid of the liquidness! HAHA.

    • Arianne

Don’t be afraid, Larie! Try a sample from Sephora, perhaps?

  • Jane

Not sure what rock I was living under but love to find out about Jeremy Renner as a make-up artist. Way better than waiting tables!

Obviously my make up bag is incomplete. Because my brows are so dark I haven’t really done much with them but I should try this out!

    • Arianne

Bwahahaha Jane, it’s a little known fact actually! But muscles + makeup artist = hold on to your panties, girls! LMAO!

I think even dark brows (with sparse spots) could use a little bit of help.

  • Rae // theNotice

Oh my god, Arianne! Your brows are flawless. F-L-A-W-L-E-S-S. I don’t typically have any problems with brow products migrating (gotta love the prairies for that), but I will definitely be keeping this in mind in case I ever need something more long-wearing 😉

(And halloo, daily dose of Renner! :D)

    • Arianne

No, really Rae? Toronto has me sweating every single day with the gross humidity. Eeek eeek sticky!

      O hai, Renner!

  • Teri

Ok, now I’m intrigued. I just saw this last week in the mufe store and I thought it was kind of a funny idea. But your brows look absolutely amazing, like wow!

    • Arianne

Thanks, Teri! Hope you give it a whirl. It’s AMAZING.

  • BooBooNinja

I’ve been wanting to try this for a while.
Dang it — I wish summer would come to the West Coast.

    • Arianne

Who cares about summer BooBooNinja? Get it anyway. 😉

  • dani@callitbeauty

Yes, I need. I need in my life!

I’ll take the Eyebrow Corrector, too. 😉

    • Arianne

      Get in line, Dani! 😛

  • Leetal Tusia

this sounds AMAZING! do you think it will be too much for someone with strong thick brows to begin with? i have a lot of brow hair and they’re thick but still have weird spots on them. sometimes filling them in looks too much. don’t know what i should do :S

    • Arianne

Hi Leetal Tusia! You can certainly still benefit from a product like this. Just fill in the sparse spots and leave the full spots as they are so the brows don’t look “too done.” Hope that helps!

  • Liz

You know, I had #4 a long time ago and returned it. Meant to exchange it for #3 like you want to, but it was always sold out! Remembering now how much I loved it as well.

    • Arianne

There were SO many in Eaton Centre, Liz!

  • annie

Oooooh, I’m gonna have to purchase this I think!! I always feel like my brows are so meh by the end of the day. This might be the solution!

Thanks for the highly entertaining review! 😀

    • Arianne

You’re welcome, Annie! LOL any excuse to put an attractive man on here — I’ll take it!

  • Shaylee

Your brows look fantastic! I really must try this stuff now and must be more diligent about filling in my brows apparently.. haha

    • Arianne

Hi Shaylee! What do you use on your brows now?

  • Paris B

A friend told me about this a few years ago and I was too afraid to try it then. I’m still afraid to try it, like our Wands, but after seeing the result on you, I might just have to do it! 😀

    • Arianne

Try it, Paris! Nothing scary about trying it first before buying. 😉

  • Tracy@BeautyReflections

Gotta have the Zombie Apocalypse Makeup Bag at the ready girl! Mine is sitting there ready to go!
So is there one of these for people with copper hair cause my hair is like REALLY RED now.

    • Arianne

Hahaha I know you do, Tracy! Unfortunately nothing will be red enough for your hair… you can try to see if #2 will work, but it might still be much too brown.

  • Sagu

Oh! I had no idea a product like this existed! I need it! NEEEED.

    • Arianne

Go for it, Sagu! Hope you like it. :)

  • Cami

OH MAH GAAAH amazing review. Truly amazing. Hear that? It is the sound of applause. I cannot wait to get mine through the post now, and am probably going to retweet this to everyone who has eyebrows. I feel strongly about it, and I don’t even have the product yet…

    • Arianne

Let me know how you like it, Cami! Or I should say, how much you love it? :)

  • Toya

OK, so I’ve read about this one before, but the review didn’t get me like yours!! Damn girl. Also it helps you threw a little Renner in their to catch my eye 😉 I’m currently just using an old MAC shadow to fill in my brows, but clearly I need to ‘step it up’ LOL And you know I love me some MUFE products!!!

    • Arianne

You’re on to me, Toya, eh? 😛 Anything I review + Jeremy Renner = product sales. LOL. They should be paying me for this.

  • Babybubblz

Awesome post! I’m looking forward to getting this for the humid summer in TO!

    • Arianne

      Hope you like it, Mira!

  • Dovey

What? Jeremy Renner makeup artist?!?! Are you sure?? I’m so confused now :)

I did read about this on my funny valentine a while back too, and was intrigued. I’m close to being ‘got’ by this now. Lovely review!

    • Arianne

Hi Dovey, why would I joke about this sort of thing? This is REAL LIFE. Hahaha. Look up “Jeremy Renner on Ellen” and you’ll see. He said it himself.

  • Eden-Avalon

Jeremy looks so SASSY in that first picture. I’m pretty impressed by the results of this! My brows are pretty sparse ever since I shaved them all off in middle school so I’ll probably try this eventually.

    • Arianne

LOL totally sassy, Eden-Avalon. Let me know how it works out for you.

  • Perilously Pale

Ooh I must try this! I wonder with my very sparse brows if it would look odd?

    • Arianne

Hi Christa, I’m not sure if you’ll find a good match for your hair. :( #2 is red-toned, but it’s still mostly brown.

  • Angela

So much perfect in this post: Jeremy Renner the makeup artist, your awesome brows. I have to admit that brow corrector in a tube looks a little intimidating but the results look amazing. (By the way, I think your natural brows look perfectly nice.)

  • Sue Lin

Wow this looks like a revolutionary product. Most brow gels out there are cursed with disgusting glitter. The last thing I want my brows to look like is a crazy caterpillar wearing a disco jacket.

Nice looking brows there Arianne :)

MUST. have. it. nao!! I love that it doesn’t budge in the humidity … now if I could just tell my wavy brow hairs to sit down and chill out we’d be good!

I’m so amazed right now–I didn’t think you were going to go for the black shade, but you did! And you PULLED. IT. OFF. Your eyebrows look FABULOUS Arianne. They are everything Ive wanted my brows to look like and more!

  • Jen W

Yyyaaaayyy I’m so glad you love it as much as I do. It’s the BEST thing invented since waterproof mascara.

I actually quite like your brows both filled in and untouched Arianne!

Great review – keep it up! Was wondering if you could please recommend which MUFE Aqua Brow shade is the most similar (or even identical) to Benefit’s Gimme Brow in Medium/Dark? Thanks for your time :)
