My Summer Makeup Regimen: A Five-Minute Face

Ahhh! Warm weather has finally arrived and it feels so good. With the change of seasons, I always switch up my makeup regimen because, well… because it’s fun.

Oh, and I’ll tackle skincare for another post… as that could also take a while. 🙂

First and foremost, I’ve become a highlighting nut, you guys! I ran out and bought Laura Mercier Primer in Radiance ($40) after seeing it on gorgeous Jessica of Getting Cheeky. I start with this peachy primer all over my face to wake up my complexion, which has been looking oh-so-tired on its own lately. This primer does not feel heavy or silicone-y at all, which is why I don’t mind adding this extra step in my routine. I find that this gives the skin a soft focus effect that it covers any little breakouts I might be having.

To conceal under my eyes, I am still using the best combo in the world I wrote about here. I now do MAC Pro Longwear NC35 Concealer first, then MAC Bright Forecast Prep + Prime Highlighter on top. I make sure to highlight the outer V as well. It does wonders for brightening the eyes; this tip was from Jessica (another Jessica!) of BEAUTEZINE.

To keep the coverage light and luminous, I set my skin with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Dark ($34). I use a cream blush, shu uemura Creamy Dome Blusher in Fairy Pink *, and blend that in with my fingers. Then I faux tan with my beloved Guerlain Terracotta Light in 03 Brunettes * (review).

I’m back to using a lighter powder eyeshadow like MAC Eyeshadow in Coquette ($18) on my eyebrows. I like the soft definition that it gives my brows these days. On the lid and the inner corners of my eyes, I do a sheer pearly champagne from the CARGO Color Palette in Vienna ($28). No primer as it’s so sheer and pretty even when it creases. I then line the upper waterline with a black pencil, YSL Dessin Du Regard Waterproof in No 1 Black Ink * ($30), smudged for a is-she-or-is-she-not-wearing-eyeliner? effect. I only line the upper waterline because as the day goes on, it transfers naturally to the lower waterline and creates the illusion of thicker lashes. Lots of mascara of course, and these days I like Maybelline Volum’ Express Mega Plush Mascara in Blackest Black * ($8.99). It provides clean definition to the lashes, no crunchiness, and I love how really black it is.

Joe Fresh Matte Lipstick in Melon

Lipstick depends on my mood. Most days I wear coral like NARS Lipstick in Niagara (review) or today, Joe Fresh Matte Lipstick in Melon ($6). Hello, neon.

  • Hurray! Glad to see another post from you! You look stunning… I love the beachy waves in your hair too 🙂 I think I need to try out some Joe Fresh lipsticks now!

    • YAY thanks Jessica! I’m trying out this mini-curling iron and I’m still getting used to it. I usually curl with a flat iron. 🙂

You have to try the Joe Fresh lipsticks. They are so damn cheap, you can’t feel bad buying every colour.

  • I got Melon at the same time I got Fuchsia! Such a gorgeous shade! <3

Speaking of gorgeous… YOUR FACE! It is beautiful!

    • Stopit, Dani. 😛 But thank you so much! YOUR FACE.

  • Kristi

Love this lipstick on you! Bright but not overpowering.

    • Thanks Kristi! I think it’s actually pretty bright. 🙂 But with my skin tone it looks wearable on me.

  • LOVE IT! Beautiful complexion, bright eyes, and bold lips. Definitely perfect for summer!

    • Thanks Sunny! My sentiments exactly.

  • That lipstick is divine on you! I was going to do a post like this soon, too – the summer face. 😀

    • Wooo you lipstick bandits want this lipstick, eh? 🙂 Can’t wait to see your post!

  • You look so fresh and gorgeous! Your hair is so nice too. Gimmegimmegimme.

    • Thanks Soha. But my hair is mine and mine alone! 😉

  • Danielle

    That Cargo eyeshadow-SO PERFECT.
And that LIP-GAHHH–I’m doing a Rae flail over here now!

    • Bahaha Tracy you make me blush. Thank you!

  • Girl you are hot! Remind me why we don’t have Joe Fresh here? That lipstick is to DIE for! Though you make every lipstick look good … so maybe it’s false advertising 😉

    ♥ Jessica

    • Do you want one, Jessica? I’m already getting it for Danielle and don’t mind grabbing you one too. 🙂

  • You + Joe Fresh Matte Lipstick in Melon = Dreamy! And oh, your pretty, pretty skin… gorgeous, lady!

    • Aw shucks, Janine! Thanks. 🙂 The skin is mostly the radiance primer. It’s incredible!

  • Gosh you are so gorgeous, Arianne! and you have the Shu Uemura Creamy Dome Blusher!!! I’ve been so curious about that one! How is the wear? And I’ll have to try Coquette for my brows too. I’m using Charcoal Brown right now (and sometimes the Anastasia one) but I find it a bit too brown for my liking. I’m always on the lookout for the most natural looking powder for my brows, and this one looks amazingly natural on you!

    • Thanks Becca. 🙂 The dome blusher doesn’t last an entire work day on me. I do appreciate the blendability and convenience though. It’s something that I can take in my purse without any makeup brushes and touch-up at the end of the day.

Coquette is great for eyebrows! I’ve used it on the lightest blondes as well and it makes the brows perfectly polished but still soft.

  • That lipstick is STUNNING on you! 🙂

    • Thank you. 🙂 It’s a great summer bright!

  • That Joe Fresh lipstick is seriously fantastic!

    • Isn’t it incredible? So pigmented in one swipe, too.

  • Love that bright lipstick on you!

  • I bought that Laura Mercier Radiance primer as well and it is pretty awesome. Whether I choose to wear foundation or tinted moisturizer (also Laura Mercier – also awesome) it just makes your face less matte and more like actual skin should look, but with the same coverage. Best beauty buy in a long time.

I have been looking for the Joe Fresh Melon lipstick everywhere! The Joe Fresh store on Queen and Portland doesn’t even have it. What is the deal with that?

  • So I saw it and immediately wrote down the Joe Fresh lippie on my to-buy list. It looks fabulous on you. I don’t know that I could ever do a five minute face but I’ll be using some of your picked-up tips!

  • You look amazing for such a simple routine. I tend to use sunscreen (no moisturizer), a sheer bb cream, powder, blush, and lip gloss as a basic need to run outta the house face for summer. Eye makeup tends to melt on me on v humid days. I. iChat put on some eyeshadow or liner if I have more time but mascara is. It for long days as it smudges on me
