Giorgio Armani Spring 2012: Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Sheer Lipstick in 600 Review, Photos, Swatches

Wearing Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Sheer in 600

Every year when spring comes around every magazine says we gotta go lighter with our makeup. Blah blah blah. But yanno, some days I just can’t not wear a smokey eye or a meticulously applied bold lip.

I never really jumped on the sheer lipstick train because hey, I’m a full coverage lipstick kinda gal. But I think Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Sheers ($38) might be luring me to step into the dark side (or
should I say, light side?).

Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Sheer in 600 – Swatch

Rouge d’Armani Sheer in 600 is more opaque than other sheer lipsticks I’ve tried. The formula is perfect: smooth and creamy — just how I like my peanut butter πŸ˜‰ — semi-glossy and almost gel-like in consistency. It is not greasy nor heavy on the lips, but gives my lips the right amount of moisture that they look beautifully plump.

At $38, it is definitely a luxurious purchase, but I think the Giorgio Armani lip products (Rouge d’Armani and Gloss d’Armani are my holy grail) are the best from the high end department. They are totally worth it and I wouldn’t hesitate picking up some more.

How do you wear your lipstick? Are you all over the sheer lipstick balm trend?

  • Sheer lipstick all the way!!! i love the way this one looks on you, GA are ur HG’s??? hmm I was thinking abt skipping them but 1 gloss i ALWAYS pick it up at the counter and say.. no… πŸ™ haha now i have a reason!!! thank you for the swatches and amazing FOTD!

    • Really? The Gloss d’Armani has the perfect consistency for a lipgloss… Danielle at Bloomin’ Beauty concurs. πŸ™‚ You have to get that gloss ASAP.

  • I love both! I’m really amazed by the colour of this lipstick! I was a bit afraid it would be too brown, but it actually looks more like a your lips but better? I never tried GA, mainly because they are hard to find here, but as a lipstick addict I think I really should try one, love how this looks!

    • No it’s not a brown lipstick at all… I will try to colour correct that photo.

Giorgio Armani lipsticks are to die for! You need to try, Teri. πŸ™‚

  • Damn! That looks fabulous on you! I adore Rouge d’Armani lipsticks and I’ve been toying with trying some of these. I don’t tend to wear sheer lipsticks ofter either. This happens to be one of the shades at the top of my list!

    • Nice! Go get it Christa. πŸ™‚

  • Amy

This is such a pretty color! I have the normal Rouge d’Armani in 600, which I love, but it’s definitely bolder than I always want, so this could be the perfect alternative. There goes another $30, sigh.

    • Perfect, Amy. πŸ™‚ Do you own other Rouge d’Armanis? I think I should go pick some more up.

  • evo

oh no….a reason to head to holt renfrew. i’ve only tried the eyes to kill shadows. maybe i’ll head there soon to try this. but $38 canadian? ouch!

    • Hey Evo! It’s a lot of money but I love my Rouge d’Armani over my Chanel Rouge Coco. That’s how good it is. πŸ™‚

  • I’ve completely boarded the sheer lipstick train. I refuse to wear real color πŸ™‚ 600 is beautiful, but your eye makeup is really stealing the show! I suppose that is the beauty of sheers though; there’s room for many aspects of the face

    • Thank you, Dovey. πŸ™‚ It was a good makeup day. I can’t believe it’s the first time I wore the combo.

  • Oh gurl, you look SO good with this! I actually like the sheer lipstick trend because it’s a great way to start exploring colors I haven’t tried before without freaking myself out a little, if you know what I mean πŸ™‚

  • How genius! Tough as Taupe with Satin Taupe! I have both and this will be my date look tonight! Thanks!

The lipstick looks stunning on you. I wonder why all the lipstick photographs I see of Armani lipsticks have the bullet scratched up!

    • That combo + black liner = easiest smokey eye in the world.

Really? I have a Rouge d’Armani (the opaque original) and it is fine. I guess this one didn’t make it in transit.

  • I have been DYING to try these Rouge D’Armani Sheers. This looks absolutely gorgeous on you. I am loving the sheer lip for spring–mainly because I’m the complete opposite of you and I hate (on myself) a bold, opaque lip. I’d rather play up my eyes any day πŸ™‚

  • Jacqui

Hi Arianne. Love your posts and lipstick swatches! I was wondering though what your lips look like without lipstick. Like how pigmented they are, or if you use a base to cancel out the pigment of your lips. I think a post on this would be helpful! πŸ™‚

    • Hi Jacqui! Thanks for your feedback. πŸ™‚ I think that sounds like a great idea for a post; I’ll keep that in mind! But my lips are not pigmented at all… they look almost grey/beige to me.

  • I will probably never go back to less-than-full-coverage lipstick. I can wear a gloss when I want that effect, for me, expensive (especially expensive!) sheer lipsticks are just too much of a money suck.

  • I’m loving the Armani sheers as well, despite being, like you, a fan of more opaque lipsticks as a rule. I’m definitely going to have to grab this colour as well, since plum/ berry shades are my absolute favourites!
