Summer in a Compact: Guerlain 03 Brunettes Terracotta Light Sheer Bronzing Powder Review, Photos, Swatches

Guerlain is world-renowned for their bronzers and face powders, so I am incredibly excited to try one of their most popular products — one of Into The Gloss’ summer essentials — the Terracotta Light Sheer Bronzing Powder.  I mean, look how pretty!

Guerlain 03 Brunettes Terracotta Light

Guerlain 03 Brunettes Terracotta Light Sheer Bronzing Powder ($56) is infused with “apricot accents to enhance the brunettes golden natural tan.”  This imparts more glow than other bronzers I’ve tried in the past.  It is almost like a hybrid bronzer/highlighting powder.   It consists of five different shades of powders, ranging from light apricot to deep copper brown.  The shimmer in this is not chunky, and the result is a very believable tan on my skin.

Check out the packaging, too.  The Guerlain logo glows red as the light hits it.  The compact is obviously well thought out, sturdy and not bulky.  The powder is lightly fragranced (floral).  To me, it smells expensive and luxurious. :)

My complexion is quite flat after my powder foundation, but after a sheer application of Terracotta Light, the results just stunning: perfectly highlighted cheeks, glowy JLo tan.  I wore this in my NARS Niagara Lipstick review and I just fell in love with the effect.  For those who are afraid of looking orange, Terracotta Light also comes in two shades for blondes, which have pink accents instead of apricot.

I really really love this product.  I think I love it more than Dior Aurora.  I just can’t get enough of that glow!  There’s just something in the way the powder is milled that looks amazing when the light hits it.  This one is a must-see.

Guerlain Terracotta Light Sheer Bronzing Powder is available in all Guerlain Counters across Canada.

Fun With Lipstick: Two Ways To Wear NARS Niagara Lipstick

NARS Lipstick in Niagara

Happy weekend! I hope your weekend is off to a great start. Mine is going great; I’m playing with lipstick, what else? :) Niagara is my first lipstick from NARS, and I am very impressed! I love the creaminess of the formula, plus it’s opaque and long-wearing. It’s a beautiful coral pink that I’m sure to wear a lot in the warm months ahead.

Reader Jacqui requested for a photo of my bare lips for reference before I do my lip swatches. Well here you go, guys! Beige, grey and all sorts of boring. :)

NARS Niagara Lipstick ($30) has potential to be crazy fun (as you’ll see later), but for now this is what it looks like worn alone. It’s an easy to wear glossy coral pink. It’s the lighter, pinker and glossier sister of MAC Crosswires. On my lips, Niagara looks more pink, but on others it may lean more coral. Check out how it looks on Saadeh of Shadowy Lady.

Let’s kick it up a few notches, shall we?

Here is what NARS Niagara looks like layered atop a cherry red lip liner. O HAI. It’s a deep watermelon red, deeper and redder than MAC Impassioned. What a transformation, right? Mixing lipstick colours is what I do for fun. ;) Try it sometime! You’ll be surprised what awesome combinations you might come up with.

Wedding Makeup: Soft Smokey Eye

Since wedding season is right around the corner, I thought I’d show my favourite bridal look here.  The look is a taupe smokey eye; soft yet glamorous.

When I started this look I initially went with a deep purple shade for the outer corner, but it was quickly turning into a “I got punched in the eye” kinda look.  Instead of purple, the combination of chocolate brown and black on the outer corner balanced out the look very well.  A super thin line on the bottom lash line adds definition but keeps the look from looking heavy.

I kept the lips a natural pink colour by combining two of my works-for-everyone shades: MAC Patisserie and Viva Glam V.

Oh and, can we talk skin?  Ayu has really pretty freckles, so I kept the foundation light.  I highlighted under the eyes, cheeks and nose with YSL Touche Eclat (OMG – totally sold on this product!).  A quick dusting of the new for summer YSL Terre Saharienne in Nº 2 Sunkissed, and the look is done!

What do you think?  Should I turn wedding makeup into a series?  Check out Artistry By Arianne for more photos including a before and after!
