When a lipstick doesn’t get featured on Glitter Geek for two weeks, you should expect that I’m working on some exciting news that are, yes, totally lipstick related.
What news you ask? YSL is adding six new shades (permanently, hallelujah!) to the Rouge Volupté Perle line.
No 107 — Impetuous Beige, No 108 — Celestial Mauve, No 109 — Brazen Plum,
No 110 — Incandescent Orange, No 111 — Mysterious Red, No 112 — Spellblinding Violet
The luxurious YSL Rouge Volupte Perle ($38) garners many rave reviews on Makeup Alley and beauty blogs. Lipstick Rules declares it a “favourite of all time” and I can see why. These creamy lipsticks glide on smoothly on the lips. They give a glossy look on the lips much like the Dior Addict, and they impart are semi-opaque colour after one swipe. If glossy is not the look you’re after, blot the colour off to take away the shine. It leaves a beautiful velvety stain and the small pearl pigments are more apparent on the lips.
Oh, and the scent! It is similar to a watermelon flavoured candy, which I quite like, but if you are sensitive to scents, it might not be for you.
No 109 — Brazen Plum, No 111 — Mysterious Red, No 112 – Spellblinding Violet
I have three of the colours today for a sneak peek. No 109 — Brazen Plum is a mid-tone brownish plum, which is great for bold lipstick newbies who want to try something darker this fall. No 111 — Mysterious Red is a cherry red that is suitable for all skin tones. No 112 – Spellblinding Violet is a deep violet, and also the shade worn on the product photos (although we suspect that it is layered over a liner, as the lipstick is not that opaque).

The gold packaging is exquisite. Surprisingly it is quite good at hiding fingerprints. The YSL logo that wraps around the tube is just the perfect topping. A lipstick with such an intricate design and packaging definitely comes with a hefty price ($38), but I think it’s worth it to pick up at least one of these.

Will You Be Picking Up A YSL Rouge Volupté Perle?
What do you think? See anything you like? I have to say I have a soft spot for No 111 — Mysterious Red.
These new shades of YSL Rouge Volupté Perle will be available in Canada starting in September 2011 at Holt Renfrew and selected Bay and Murale stores.
