Lipstick Addicts Rejoice! New Shades of YSL Rouge Volupté Perle for Fall Winter 2011/2012.

When a lipstick doesn’t get featured on Glitter Geek for two weeks, you should expect that I’m working on some exciting news that are, yes, totally lipstick related. 🙂  What news you ask?  YSL is adding six new shades (permanently, hallelujah!) to the Rouge Volupté Perle line.

No 107 — Impetuous Beige, No 108 — Celestial Mauve, No 109 — Brazen Plum,
No 110 — Incandescent Orange, No 111 — Mysterious Red, No 112 — Spellblinding Violet

The luxurious YSL Rouge Volupte Perle ($38) garners many rave reviews on Makeup Alley and beauty blogs.  Lipstick Rules declares it a “favourite of all time” and I can see why.  These creamy lipsticks glide on smoothly on the lips.  They give a glossy look on the lips much like the Dior Addict, and they impart are semi-opaque colour after one swipe.  If glossy is not the look you’re after, blot the colour off to take away the shine.  It leaves a beautiful velvety stain and the small pearl pigments are more apparent on the lips.

Oh, and the scent!  It is similar to a watermelon flavoured candy, which I quite like, but if you are sensitive to scents, it might not be for you.

No 109 — Brazen Plum, No 111 — Mysterious Red, No 112 – Spellblinding Violet

I have three of the colours today for a sneak peek.  No 109 — Brazen Plum is a mid-tone brownish plum, which is great for bold lipstick newbies who want to try something darker this fall.  No 111 — Mysterious Red is a cherry red that is suitable for all skin tones.  No 112 – Spellblinding Violet is a deep violet, and also the shade worn on the product photos (although we suspect that it is layered over a liner, as the lipstick is not that opaque).

No 109 — Brazen Plum, No 111 — Mysterious Red, No 112 – Spellblinding Violet

The gold packaging is exquisite.  Surprisingly it is quite good at hiding fingerprints.  The YSL logo that wraps around the tube is just the perfect topping.  A lipstick with such an intricate design and packaging definitely comes with a hefty price ($38), but I think it’s worth it to pick up at least one of these.

  • Why did I have to click on the feed and be curious?? Now I’m itching to run to the store to try them out! The colors you picked look lovely on you!

    • Hahaha sorry LuvJ! Which one will you be getting?

  • Spellblinding Violet is gorgeous!!! I’ll take one please! 🙂

    • It is! Next time though I’m going to layer it with a liner and bolder eyes. It’s a “go big or go home” kinda lipstick shade.

  • You look amazing as always!! I’m loving the Fall lip colours though I’m so not ready to give in to Fall just yet though. Just a bit more summer please! LOL 🙂

    • Hahaha I think Fall brings out the best lip colours. Boldest lips ever! 🙂

  • I am in LOVE with the last one, must get! Thanks for the swatches girlie 🙂

    • Spellblinding Violet is so you, Saadeh! 🙂 So vampy.

  • Wowsers they look hawt on you. Especially the first one!

    • Hey Jenny! Really? Weird, I kinda think that one makes me look dead. But so many of you are giving it the “yea!”

  • OK Seriously! Is there a lipstick that doesn’t look amazing on you? These all look incredible. I only have one lonely YSL lipstick and I think it’s lonely….

  • i LUUUURRRVE fall colours! all of these are GORGEOUS, but i have to say my favourite is Spellbinding Violet <3.

    • I like that one, too, Dani! But I must find a lip liner to layer underneath. I’m not a fan of semi-opaque lipsticks on their own.

  • These are so pretty! I love the finish of them. You look fabulous, Arianne! I swear they don’t make a lip color you look bad in o_O

  • Wow, the darker shades look amazing on you! I especially love Mysterious Red! And doesn’t Spellbinding Violet look gorgeous in the tube?? Thanks so much for mentioning my blog. 🙂 I also did a post on Celestial Mauve here: Thanks again!

    • Thanks Jessica! I will update my post with the link. 🙂

  • DAAAAMN those are gorgeous colours! I love the plum and the red one the best!

  • That red is gorgeous on you! I really like it blotted.

  • Why are you always so perfectly gorgeous, on every pic? ;o)

  • OMG you are so beautiful in all of them but Brazen Plum is actually stunning. I really need one of these. Maybe even lipstick-phobic me might like one!

  • That Mysterious Red sure is pretty! Red has always scared me, but I just bought a similar shade in a Target brand and I’m hoping to rock the color 🙂

  • Oh, I think I just died because the beauty of these on you was so overwhelming. Well, I know I passed out. They’re all gorgeous on you. Heavy want here.

  • They all look fantastic on you but I’m definitely feeling Spellblinding Violet for the fall season!

  • Alison

Brazen Plum (and the entire look that goes with it) is really flattering on you.
