Totally Summer Cottage-Worthy: Weleda Sea Buckthorn Body Oil.

We had just celebrated our first long weekend of the summer — Canada Day eh? — and I spent four blissful days in a rented cottage up north with some friends.  It was a hell of a good time; the sun was there, too, and I caught lots of it (while wearing sunscreen, of course).  Another body product that I have been dying to tell you about is Weleda Sea Buckthorn Body Oil ($28).

Weleda Sea Buckthorn Body Oil

I’m very lazy when it comes to putting lotion on, but with all the sun I’m bound to get this summer — from the long bike rides to outdoor boot camps to the beach — I’ve been trying to nourish my skin with this body oil.  The oil smells slightly citrusy but not overwhelming.  It moisturizes beautifully without being greasy.  I might even call it magic.  This bright orange oil (almost) transforms my legs into Mariah Carey legs — smooth, radiant, and golden. :)

Total vanity aside, the Sea Buckthorn Oil is also great for your skin. The formula contains super antioxidants Vitamins A, C and E, as well as essential fatty acids to help moisturize parched skin. Sea Buckthorn berries are known for their healing properties, so their oils are perfect for use on a sunburn if you happened to fall asleep on the dock. ;)  I love Weleda Sea Buckthorn Oil so much that I think I need to get on that 12-step program Janine is on.

Ingredients: Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Oil, Fragrance (Parfum)*, Limonene*, Linalool*, Benzyl Benzoate*, Benzyl Salicylate*, Geraniol*, Citral*, Farnesol*. * from natural essential oils

Oh sparkling water, how I love ya.

Princess Scaredypants picking up worms with a leaf for fishing bait. :)

In my defence, my fear of earthworms is almost phobia-like.  So, how brave am I here?

OMG I can’t believe you did that! (the worms) I’m so glad I can’t really see them in the picture I’m sooooo scared of them! I hate when it rains and they’re out, I almost failed that part of biology b/c I was so freaked out!!!

Ok sheesh, now that that’s out of my system the cottage pics are gorgeous!! So jealous, it’s so pretty and serene! And that oil sounds interesting – I love body oils, they make your skin so supple and smooth!

Hahahaha seriously when it rains and it’s dark, I can’t even walk straight. Whenever I see one close by I may or may not shriek, every single time.

What body oils do you like?

I find your fear of worm utterly adorable, and it’s cute that you’re improvising with a leaf lol.

This body oil sounds great! I’ve used Seabuckthorn on my face, it’s very moisturising

Ooh thanks for the tip! I got a bit of a burn on my shoulders and it’s been working nicely so far. Maybe I’ll try my face, too.

Okay, so I’m totally convinced that I need this! Where’s Weleda sold?

And good job on the worms! They just squirm. I much prefer them to bees.

Whole Foods, and other health food stores.

The one I had got angry after the first hook went in. Eek!

I’ve always wanted to try this and now I will!
I love worms. :) Used to play with bugs when I was little. Even used to catch bees with a pickle jar that I poked holes in the top. :) Never been stung!

Yay! I wanna know what you think when you do try. :)

How could you love worms, Tracy? EEEEEEEKKKK!!!

Dani, you live in Vancouver, so it’s like being on vacation all. the. time. :)

Gorgeous pictures! And your phobia of earthworms is similar of my phobia of cats. Totally irrational :(

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca Arianne

Hahahaha I think you just haven’t met the perfect cat match, Marisol. ;) I’ll introduce you to Scherbie?

Arianne!! I’m the same with worms – I walk like I’m drunk – but this is in daylight too CANNOT STAND THEM!!! If I have the choice I won’t even go outside when THEY’RE there – they can stay in their areas, I’ll stay in mine!

I LOOOVE Skin So Soft Body oil by Avon – it’s my all time favorite. It takes a little longer to dry than the dry oils of today but I still love it. And you introduced me to NUXE which I’m loving too!

I knew I had to try it when I keep reading about it on BEAUTYGEEKS. :) Thanks for the amazing recommendation.

Everyone raves about this stuff. I guess I have to get it. I’ve been using Neutrogena body oil for years. It smells of sesame. Delish.

Also, don’t forget well.ca! It’s sold on there too. Plus, free shipping. Wheeeee!

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca Arianne

You’ll love it Lindsay! :) It’s pretty fantastic.

Stunning photos! It looks like you had a fab time dear!

I should pick some of this up for a friend of mine, she suffers from a bit of rosacea and has told me that sea buckthorn helps with the redness. I wonder if they make a face version?

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca Arianne

I don’t think they make a face version, but your friend can certainly use the oil as a spot treatment if she wants. :)
