Summer Must-Have: Diorskin Nude Healthy Glow Powder in Aurora (and Cat Ladyness).

Some things that come to mind when I think of summer:

  1. Hot sun and blue skies.
  2. Backyard barbecues.
  3. Ice cream.
  4. Beaches.
  5. Bronzers.
  6. Backyard barbecues.

Pardon me while I wipe the drool off my face.

Anyway.

It’s that time of the year again, when new collections are now rolling out to makeup counters, and they always bring out the best for summer.  Summer collections always strike a chord with me.  I’m a huge fan of the carefree sun-kissed look because it is — as my friends from the Bay Area would say — hella sexy.  Speaking of which, isn’t Diorskin Nude Healthy Glow Powder in Aurora ($48) just ooze pure sexiness?

Diorskin Nude Healthy Glow Powder in Aurora

Aurora’s basket weave pattern of golden brown and pinky peach powders creates the most flattering lit from within effect on the skin.  It’s something that I haven’t seen from other bronzers I’ve used in the past.  It has the most sophisticated glow; you won’t see any chunky shimmer on your face from Dior Aurora.

The bronzer comes with a velvet pouch with a pocket for a soft small brush (seen in the first photo).  I’m so happy to say that the brush is actually pretty good!  However, I still prefer to use a tapered face brush similar to MAC 138 to apply it on my temples, chin and cheeks.  Then, I wear more on my cheeks using my blush brush.

Since my Dior counter mini-spree (yes, there will be more coming up!), I have used my Aurora bronzer almost everyday and sometimes without any blush.  I think that makes it a must-have, don’t you think?

Just Because It’s Caturday…

Scherbie!

Other makeup I’m wearing: UD Toasted all over lid, MAC Soft Brown in crease, MAC Brun on outer corner, UD Sin on inner corner, UD Bourbon liner. On the lips, I’m wearing Chanel Rouge Allure Laque in Phoenix.

Have you hugged your cat today? :)

What’s Your Favourite Summer 2011 Makeup Collection?

I really think that Dior hit it out of the park with this collection.  The two new bronzers are outstanding. :)  I think NARS also has a great collection out.  Their Dogon eyeshadow duo and Carthage (hot pink) lipstick kinda make me crazy!

You look great! I thought I would love the bronzer (was going to buy one or even both) but they looked better in blog pics than in person. Glad you’re enjoying!

Thanks! :) But really? Why didn’t you love it?

all this bronzer talk is really getting me into bronzers and i normally don’t care for them!

aurora is ridiculously pretty! thing is, my heart wants it but my bank account tells me to “stay away.” :p

Honestly, I can say that this is one of those expensive things that I use almost every single day. It scares me to think that I might run this one all the way to the pan. It’s amazing. I would probably wear this during the winter as well.

I LOVE Dior Aurora too and you were one of the many that convinced me to take the plunge and buy it, so thank you! Every time I open it up to use it, I find myself staring at the basket weave pattern for a few seconds first and just thinking, “Prettyyy…”.

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca Arianne

YAY! So glad you took the plunge, and that you love it, too! :)

I am SO happy I ordered this when I had the chance. Aurora is SO beautiful, definitely one of the best bronzers that’s been released this season. It looks so gorgeous on you, I can’t wait for mine to arrive!

I initially really wanted Aurora.. but found it to be a lil too light for my liking as I wanted bronzer.. So I went for Sunset and I just adooore it! love the texture of this product.. So soft and velvety isn’t it?

Well done dior.. You really did it this time!

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca Arianne

What’s your skin tone Delyteful? I’m in between NC35 – NC40 right now, and I think I can still wear this during the summer when I’m NC40ish.

Velvety is the perfect description. :)

  • http://www.beauty-reflections.com Tracy@BeautyReflections

LOVE! I initially thought this might be too orange for my NW15 skin, but looking at these GORGEOUS pics of you, me thinks I was wrong! I’m going to go back and take a looky at it again now!

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca Arianne

I don’t think it’ll be too warm at all! Hope you check it out and get it. :)

  • http://saimese.blogspot.com Saim

I don’t know if I can justify wanting to spend so much on this especially when I’m supposed to be saving up for law school, but this review is tempting me.. A LOT! I can def see how this would give that healthy glow. Aaaahh.. must resist temptation

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca Arianne

Sorry, Saim! But it’s a really great buy, if that helps. :)

thank you for posting this I bought the aurora bronzer as well and just love it. I saw that you have the lancaster bronzer from last year as well, so we have the same great tast in bronzers. Do you still you the lancaster one?

  • http://icolouroutsidethelines.blogspot.com Christine

I love this swept over the whole face lightly then built up in the cheek area. Summer will see this product often I’m sure.

  • http://Website nawi

    hallo,

doe you mean the lancaster one or the dior one?
    which one do you prefer?

    • http://www.glittergeek.ca Arianne

I much prefer the Dior actually! I like the natural “glow” I get with it.
