Around the Internetz: Hola Ombré!

Source: Beauty Editor

When I decide to go lighter with my hair next Spring, I am so hitting up Hair on the Avenue after seeing Michelle’s ridiculously good looking ombré highlights.  Also, I would kill for those brushed out curls. [Beauty Editor]

I don’t usually feature nail products on here, but how amazing is this teal (or blue?) creme shade from Rescue Beauty Lounge?  I don’t think the line is available here though, so I might have a better chance trying to find OPI Ski Teal We Drop. [Temptalia and All Lacquered Up]

Ohmygaaahh glitter!!!  The glitter liners from Annabelle’s Insomnia collection seriously look amazing.  I have my eyes on Dark Angel. [theNotice]

I am obsessed with red lips.  Can you tell?  This makes me want to check out the new YSL Rouge Pur Couture line. [Inspired by beauty]

So, I’ve had bad depotting experiences in the past.  It was so bad that my dad felt sorry for me and started helping me pry the pans off my MAC eyeshadow pots. :( LOL!  Here is a great tutorial on depotting MAC eyeshadows, CCBs, and mineralize eyeshadows if you wish to try it. [Pinchy Peach]

Mad Men Inspired Look (with Two Different Lip Colours)!

Today I decided to do sort of a Mad Men inspired look for a special occasion.  BF and I are celebrating our 6th anniversary together and I wanted to glam it up with the hair and makeup.  I have to say that this is one of my favourite looks that I’ve showcased on this blog so far.  I really liked this look, or shall I say, these looks, since I am showing two different options for lip colour.  I ended up wearing the rosy lips out to our dinner date because BF doesn’t like bold lips. :)

Swatches (from left): MAC All That Glitters, Urban Decay Buck, MAC Coquette, Revlon Soft Rose Lipstick, MAC Party Line Lipstick

Get the Look

For the eyes, fill in your brows with powder or a pencil (MAC Spiked Eye Brows).  Then, pat a shimmery beige eyeshadow to the lid (MAC All That Glitters).  Using a pointed crease brush (MAC 226), apply a medium matte brown eyeshadow (Urban Decay Buck) to the natural crease and lightly blend.  Using a small detail brush, pick up a matte taupe (MAC Coquette) and trace along the lower edge of the crease to deepen the colour.  Using the same colour, apply to the lower lash line to add a subtle shadow.

Start lining the eyes with a creamy black pencil (Urban Decay Zero) but do not wing out the colour.  Before the pencil has had a chance to set, drag the pencil to create a wing and also to soften the line.  This will give the winged eyeliner a softer look, and at the same time, create a guideline for the gel eyeliner.  Line again with a black gel eyeliner (MAC Blacktrack).  Apply black waterproof mascara (CoverGirl Lashblast) to the top and bottom lashes.  If desired, add false lashes (Ardell 110).

For the cheeks, lightly dust with a low shimmer bronzer (Annabelle Haute Gold) to get an over all glow (on forehead and chin, too).  Contour the hollows of the cheeks with a dark matte brown (MAKE UP FOR EVER #17 Espresso).  Finish with a rose blush (Chanel Rose Temptation Joues Contraste Blush).

For version 1 of the lips, first line with a berry lip liner (Annabelle Burgundy).  Fill in the lips with a berry lipstick (MAC Party Line).

For version 2 of the lips, apply a rose lipstick (Revlon Soft Rose).  Easy, right?

That’s Not All.  That’s Just the Tip of the Iceberg…

Ladies, is this a collection or what?  MAC is coming out with A Tartan Tale for Holiday 2010 — a four-part collection featuring lots and lots of plaid.  This is the only the Colour collection.  There are also Chapters 1 & 2 (makeup kits), and Sir Teddy / Kids Helping Kids / Viva Glam collections (greeting cards, teddy bears, and Viva Glam lippies! — which I am dying to get my hands on). :D

Are you excited yet?  How would you like some swatches? :)
