Going (Sort of) Au Naturel with NARS Douceur Blush.

Did you know that before my Chanel madness even started, I always had a special place in my heart for all things NARS?  It’s true.  I always felt that their powder blushes and eyeshadows are some of the best, both in texture and colour.

New and limited edition for the NARS Fall 2010 collection is NARS Blush in Douceur ($29), a browny pink with a satin finish.  First of all, how could I not get mesmerized by that NARS imprint?  Oh and by the way, the imprint is actually quite deep because after really working my buffer blush brush into it a few times, it is still there.

NARS Douceur Blush

At first glance, Douceur seems to only suit pale beauties.  Have you seen it on The Beauty Bite?  Stunning!  You may have also heard that Douceur does not apply as pigmented as the usual NARS blush, but don’t let this stop you from checking her out in person.  I admit that I tend to be heavy handed when it comes to blush, but when I buff this in to my skin it’ll never look clownish.  On my skin (between NC35 and NC40) it is the most natural flush, i.e., like I’m not wearing makeup, except I look a lot less like death. 😉  Here are a some (heavy) swatches.

Wearing NARS Douceur on cheeks

As expected, NARS Douceur is very long wearing.  It stayed on even after an entire day of sweaty bike rides around the city. 🙂  Despite the lack of pigmentation, on me it layers quite easily to get a natural colour on my cheeks because it is soft and smooth.  Very NARS; very worth it. 😀

Is it Too Good to Pass Up, or Too Subtle for the Price Tag?

What do you think?  I don’t own a blush quite like this so I am a yes yes yes!

  • Looks very pretty and natural on you!
I also thought it would only suit pale skins but was also very impressed by this on my NC40/42 skintone. Definitely become a staple for me, wish it wasn’t limited edition.

    • Oh yes, a definite staple in makeup vanity for sure! 🙂 Glad it worked for you as well.

  • I love the nars logo imprint. i was going to skip and not check this blush out but after reading this i am going to check it out for sure. I hope it looks natural on me like it does for you.

    • Ooh give it a try! And report back on how you like it 🙂

  • It looks cute on you! I’m loving your haircut (I know I said this already but it just looks so amazing!)

    • I’m starting to look like a sheepdog because they are getting long!!! Need a fringe trim soon.

  • AAACk, now i feel the need to go back and swatch again. Looks lovely on you!

    • Swatch away! Then fall in love. 😉

  • I recently developed a small insignificantly minute obsession over all things NARS…needless to say, I wanted this blush purely for the embossing and the fact that it’ll be a colour I don’t have a million dupes of. However, it just did not show up on me at all, I mean at all. The MUA tried desperately to get it to show up on my cheeks by putting about 10 layers on, but at the end…zip.
    Shocking, considering that I’m barely a NC25 🙁 Pah.

    • NARS is freakin’ amazing. 😀

Oh really? What kind of brush did you use? I use a flat kabuki-type brush because it’s what gives me the most colour payoff. I doubt a regular blush brush would do it.

  • ooh the imprint IS gorgeous! makes the product look very luxe! are u going to only the bottom part of the pan? haha

    • No I am already erasing the imprint as I use it. Makes me feel like I’m getting my money’s worth. 🙂

  • ace

oooh very pretty 🙂 i dont generally like very dark cheeks, so i may have to swatch it… it looks lovely on you!

    • This is the perfect barely there blush. It really is pretty! 🙂

  • Joy

ohh you got it! Looks lovely on you – such a great neutral. I’ve used it so much the NARS logo has worn off 🙁

    • I’ve worn it every single day since I got it. The imprint has worn off on mine too, so sad!

  • Very pretty! I have several Nars blushes and I am pleased with them all. Makes me want more.

    • Me too! Do you have Sin? I think I want that one next.

  • Thank you so much for the swatches. I hadn’t seen Douceur on darker skin, but you’re right that it looks fabulous!

    • You’re welcome Gorgeois! Lovely name by the way. 🙂
