Make It Work! Chanel Glossimer in Maline Breathes New Life to Lipsticks.

My lipstick drawer is now overflowing with many unloved lipsticks for a number of reasons:

  1. They are a tad too cool for my warm skin tone,
  2. I have other lipsticks that I like more than these, and
  3. They get buried under new stuff and hence forgotten. :( So sad but it’s true!

I can hear Tim Gunn calling out to me.  ”Make it work!” he says.  I think I found a solution to my problem; it goes by the name Maline, Chanel Glossimer in 141 Maline ($31) to be exact.

Maline is an very sheer golden gloss infused with the finest multi-coloured glitter on the planet.  When worn alone it is pretty, but not something that would usually catch my attention.  Where it excels though is when layered over lipstick.  I call it a MLBB — My Lipstick But Better — lipgloss. :)  It is not easy to capture on a photo, but this is the closest swatch that I could get:

See the blue, silver and gold glitter?  (Glitter Geek swoons.)

Here is Revlon Colorburst in Carnation: a pink that leans a little too cool to work for me.

Pretty, yah?  Can you imagine Maline over your favourite red lipstick?  I think it would make an awesome sparkly party lips!

This Glossimer, and from what I’ve read all the others, are non-sticky and feel incredible on the lips.  The glitter is so fine that it’s like you are wearing liquid gold on your lips.  I don’t use the wand to apply it though because it is sheer, and your lipstick colour will easily transfer back into the tube.  Now we don’t want that, do we? :)

What are your Chanel Makeup Essentials?

From my experience so far, their lip products are superior to all others that I have tried.  Come on out and feed the fire ;) — what are your favourite Chanel products?

  1. Hmm…this reminds me of YSL’s glitter gloss in gold (can’t remember the shade range). Those always leak in handbags though…so how does this one hold up?

    • The cap on these are very tight and the formula is not runny, so I really don’t see this leaking in my purse. I would cry if it did, because it’ll be wasted liquid gold! :P

    • Oooh I still haven’t met Mademoiselle. It’s sold out everywhere I think. :( I plan to meet her soon though. And another Glossimer from the Fall collection. :P
