Sneak Peek: M·A·C alice + olivia So Rich So Pretty.

I am so excited to post our very first sneak peek here at Glitter Geek. :)

A relatively small collection, M·A·C alice + olivia will feature limited edition Dazzleglass Crèmes ($18 US / $21.50 CDN), Pigments ($19.50 US / $23.50 CDN), and Nail Lacquer ($12 US / $14.50 CDN).  I know that this collection will set colour lovers’ hearts aflutter.

I was able to try out So Rich So Pretty Nail Lacquer, a bright reddish purple with pearl. It’s a fun colour but I feel like I’ve seen this colour before.  This is the first nail polish I’ve ever tried from M·A·C, and overall my experience was good. There was some streakiness after one or two coats, so it took me three coats (or two thick coats) to achieve a fully opaque colour. It’s worth it though.  I’m totally a purple nail polish kinda girl, and just look at that purple!  It is very downtown girl chic.

Who’s ready + excited for this collection?  I’m curious + dying to swatch that yellow Dazzleglass Crème and the Pigments. :)

M·A·C alice + olivia comes out on July 8, 2010 in stores only all over North America, and August 2010 in select locations internationally.

Disclosure: This product sample was sent by M·A·C for consideration.

So Underrated: Lancôme Color Design Blush.

I am the newest member of the cream blush — specifically of Lancôme Color Design Blush — bandwagon.  I have this in Prêt a Plum, and I am dying to get my hands on more colours from this line.

It was actually an unforeseen gem from some blushes I received from a fellow blogger (you know who you are!).  Before I tried it, I had no intentions of ever buying cream blushes fearing that they will:

  1. be sticky,
  2. be difficult to blend, and
  3. melt off my face.

Luckily for me, Lancôme Color Design Blush is none of the above.

Swatches of Prêt a Plum

Lancôme really hit the nail on the head on the cream blush texture.  The blush is a deliciously smooth cream-to-powder formula that is idiot-proof.  It has a very slight dewy finish, so it looks like your skin, only blushing. ;)  It has great staying power when worn on its own, but my favourite way to wear it is layered under a complementing powder blush.  Even on my oily skin, the colour on my cheeks lasts all day.  Can you imagine?  A blush that lasts through the greasies and sweat, and does not rub off on my iPhone?  Pretty impressive, no?

I decided to Google reviews of this product and it only returned a handful of results.  I’m really surprised that this doesn’t get more love from beauty blogs, because it is the best cheek product I have come across.  I have no complaints about this blush.  Oh, actually I do have one: I don’t own all the colours.  Love this.  Rating: A+.

A message from Scherbatsky

I guess Scherbatsky wants to make her presence known on the blogosphere since she just jumped on my keyboard and typed this message for you:

I Dig Matte Baby Pink Blush, and So Should You.

As promised, I am swatching shu uemura glow on blush m pink 33e, a warm matte baby pink.

At first glance, it looks too light to show up on my NC 35 (or probably even darker) skintone.  But it is just light enough to add brightness to my skin when it is looking dull.  Like when I don’t get enough sleep because a kitten woke me up at 6:00 am.

And here I thought a colour like this would look chalky on me.  It is quite subtle, but I am really loving this on its own for an (almost) makeup-free weekend, or over bronzer for an extra ka-pow!  The blush is very smooth so I could really layer it to get the effect I want.

Here I buffed the blush onto my cheeks.  It’s like angels kissed my cheeks.  Am I right?!

Usually I don’t take flash photos because they look too harsh.  But it’s the best way to show off the colour; otherwise under artificial light my camera will not pick it up.  I ran out of daylight because of this little riot:

How does one fall in love with a kitten after only 2 days?
Oh and she just loves playing with crumpled up paper balls.
