FOTD: Bright Fuchsia Lips and Thick Liner à la Gwen Stefani.
Remember when I said last year that I couldn’t wear bright lips in public? Well, ladies, things have changed here at Glitter Geek. Not only am I posting a bright lips FOTD, but I am glad to say that I now wear fuchsia and red lips in public. Unfortunately I have nowhere to go today so only my cat is seeing me all gussied up.
Today’s look was inspired by Gwen Stefani’s makeup in InStyle magazine April 2010. Work it, Gwen!

Get the Look
For the eyes, fill in the brows. You don’t want wimpy brows with a very strong lip look. Using a fluffy crease brush (MAC 217), apply a warm matte medium brownall over the lid and past the crease. Next, take a dark matte brown and apply all over the lid. Blend. Using a smudger brush, apply the same dark brown to the outer crease, and outer two-thirds of the lower lash line. Using the liner brush of your choice (Sonia Kashuk bent liner brush), apply a thick line of black eyeliner on your upper lash line. Take your time, go over it a few times to get the right shape and deep colour. Finish off with lots and lots of mascara.
For the cheeks, contour with a matte bronzer on your temples and hollows of your cheeks. Add a coral blush to the apples of your cheeks.
For the lips, line and fill in with a cherry red lipliner. Top off with a bright fuchsia lipgloss.

Thanks!
Matching the colours was a total fluke. But yes I am very proud of myself.
I don’t know why anyone who’s into makeup would NOT have a girl crush on Gwen. Her makeup is always perfect.

I know! My allergies are in full force now so the only easy way to wear colour is on my lips.

Thanks! It was really easy to do with the SK bent liner brush.

dude don’t you love the sk bent liner brush?? That thing saved my life, although I still can’t do cat eyes to save my life, yours look so perfect! p.s. your lips look super pretty, I should try this look sometimes. Does blacktrack smudge on you by the end of the day? I have yet to find a black gel liner that doesn’t leave a little imprint on my lids at the end of the day, even when I set it with black shadow.

For years I’ve been an angled liner brush kinda gal, but I am sold on the bent liner brush. So much easier to use!
Re: cat eyes, practice practice practice. You’ll get the hang of it soon enough.
Blacktrack is pretty good for me. I always have TFSI on underneath though. It doesn’t smudge at all anymore. You might want to try MAC Chromaline — I’ve heard good things about it but haven’t tried yet.
