Ever since my university days, concealer has been my best friend. We’ve been through a lot together — exams, presentations, and a whole lot of stress! Some concealers (hello Time Balm!) are certainly better than others, but I’m also on the lookout for a cheaper alternative. So how does Annabelle SkinTrue Concealer fare against my not-so-cute dark circles?

Annabelle SkinTrue Concealer swatches
Warning: Not for Medium to Dark Skin Tones!
The concealer palette contains 4 shades: a white illuminator, light, light beige, medium beige. The white illuminator is kinda useless to be honest. In fact, on me it is actually mattifying instead of illuminating. For reference, I have a medium skin tone; in MAC, I’m a NC 35. Unfortunately, I can only use the darkest colour for concealing. All the other shades were way too light for this purpose.
Keep in mind that SkinTrue Concealer doesn’t come in a darker set.
But Why Can’t I Hate You, SkinTrue?!
Ladies, although I can’t get the most out of this palette, let me just tell you something.
This is surprisingly a great concealer! The creamy consistency blends in like a dream. The coverage of the shades varies — the light shade is quite sheer, but the darkest shade gives a medium-full coverage. That said, it hides my dark circles fairly well. SkinTrue’s finish is also very natural, and it doesn’t set into fine lines once set. As for staying power, I experienced some fading towards the end of the day, but some of it does stay put. Because it’s a cream, make sure you have a good powder to set it; I like to use a loose powder like Marcelle Face Powder.
The Low Down
If you have light to light-medium skin tone and are looking for a good drugstore concealer, I think you will like this one. However, dear Annabelle, pretty please! Release a medium to dark version of SkinTrue concealer. I hate to break it to you: people like me with darker complexions exist, and we have concealing needs too! Rating: B.
Disclosure: This product was sent to me for consideration by Groupe Marcelle.

We’re the same shade in MAC foundation! Can you mix any of these colours together?

They are definitely mixable, but there’s no point in mixing them together if you’re NC 35. The darkest colour matches my face perfectly.
Dude, your swatches and photos make it look so creamy

They are very creamy, which is my favourite part about this concealer, except for the white “illuminator.”
aw darn, some companies do need to expand their skintone ranges. quick question, do you have a specific brush you use to apply timebalm?
.-= makeup morsels´s last blog ..April Highlights =-.
For TimeBalm, I used to use just a flat concealer brush. Now I prefer my fingers more. Either using just my fingers, or brush on then pat away with my finger. Just don’t drag it though! Just pat.
Oh man, sad that it doesn’t come in a darker color. I think I’m NC25 right now but my MAC counter didn’t have any concealers in NC25!! Happily the SA made samples of NC30 and NC20 (and I am not NEARLY that pale yet) for me so I can at least mix them for now…

Aw damn! That sucks. Which MAC concealer do you use? I’m curious about the Select Moisturecover. I hear it’s great for under the eyes.
Thanks for the review, ohhh the bags under my eyes always need some covering up! I’m always low on sleep.

You’re welcome.
Looking for awesome undereye concealer is my life long purpose. Time Balm is still my favourite, hands down.
