A Girls’ Day Out at LIFT Beauty Boutique.
Last Saturday was my sister’s birthday celebration, and so I thought what could be a better time for some good ol’ pampering! Right now until the end of February, LIFT Beauty Boutique is running this amazing promotion:
Blow Out and Style, Nail Polish Application,
and Mini-Makeup Application for only $30!
This is a great way to sample the services offered at LIFT, and my sister and I had a blast while we were getting prettied up. Located at the heart of Yorkville, LIFT Beauty Boutique is just a short walk away from the Bay subway station. While they are in the busy shopping district, this beauty boutique is tucked away upstairs in a small comfy space. The girls here are so sweet; they are the total opposite of what I expected from a Yorkville salon.

The LIFT Beauty Girls
Lauren did my makeup and nails. When it came to makeup, I told her that I’m pretty adventurous with my own makeup and she can go ahead with whatever she wished.
Lauren gave me a soft green smoky eye, paired with a plummy blush and soft mauve lips. My favourite part of the look was the cheek highlight, which I of course had to take home. From the LIFT Cosmetics line, she dipped a blush brush into Moon Dust Eye Shimmer and applied it above my cheek bones. The effect is gorgeous. It is not chunky or glittery; just naturally glowy.
Melissa washed my hair and gave me an invigorating head massage. My hair stylist of the day was Emily. I asked for straight hair, with volume, and a loose wave at the ends for that extra bounce. Without exaggerating, I have to say that Emily gave me the most voluminous, bounciest hair ever! I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I’m not a hair person. So while Emily was styling my hair, I asked a few questions on how to style my own hair.
Tips from a Master Stylist for the Lazy Girls (Put your Hands Up!)
- To create volume, the key is to blow dry with direction. Using your fingers and a blow dryer with the nozzle on, blow dry in the opposite direction of how your hair naturally falls. This will create volume at the roots when you flip your hair back to its natural place.
- If you suffer from side swept bangs that never stay in the right places, blow dry by shattering them right in front of your face before sweeping them to the side.
Here are some incriminating (and pretty) photos of my sister and I being stupid on Bloor Street.
We found a place for a quick photo op! LOL. “There! Right in front of Gucci!”
I managed to sneak in some shots in the Winners fitting room.
I’m totally just taking advantage of the lighting. Do we love the hair or what?
“Oooh a dog ice sculpture! Quick, go pet it!”
If you live in the Toronto area, you have to check out LIFT Beauty Boutique. It is the perfect place for a girls’ day out (or to prep for a girls’ night out)!

And thanks.

LIFT sounds amazing, and your hair looks *fab,* my dear! $30 is a really good price for all that — my salon would charge (I’m guessing, but I know my figures are close) about $50 for the makeup, $30 for the blowout, and $25 for the nails.
(Total cost = not fun.)

I know! It was a really good package; I wish they had it all year long! I would be paying as much as the prices there if it were a regular service. I would though, all in the name of beauty. And psst! I think my visit has turned me into a blowout addict. Don’t tell anyone.

Your sister is so pretty! And your hair looks amazing! I wish there were a LIFT near where I live, but sadly Toronto is quite a ways away from Boston

Aww thanks! I’m sure she’ll be flattered to hear that!
I’ve never experienced a salon where I am sooo comfortable in. I think I’m going to be a regular there from now on.

Thanks Joy, for the compliment and the invite! We had a total blast getting pretty.
Emily is a pro! My hair has never looked better. I’m totally hooked on “The Emily.”
Oh, and as soon as Lauren took out Moon Dust, I knew I wanted to take it home. LOL, I was already drooling over it!
