Three weeks ago, I posted some mini-goals for the last few weeks of my gym membership. Damn. Easier said than done.
How about a recap?
- Go to the gym three times a week + 1 easy exercise day. My plan is not to miss Body Combat group classes on Mondays, run the endurance and muscle-sculpting program on other days. I’m looking to try the step class as well, so that may be mixed into my routines. I also plan to incorporate an easy exercise day, whether it be a walk around the block (shopping? hello!) or just to get fresh air.
Bust. I’m consistent on attending my Body Combat classes every week. I can drag myself to the gym one other time during the week (usually doing the endurance), but that’s pretty much the extent of it.
- Opt for healthier, non-greasy choices. Again I will try to stay away from grease and fat; switch them out for less greasy but tasty food. I’ll let myself have one cheat meal per week. I will be more strict in this regard.
Bust. Hello, chinese food, camping barbecues and smores. Enough said about this one.
- Have a reward program. Make-up? Clothes? Purse? If I do well that week, I will allow myself to get a small reward. Just not fatty food, because that’s self-defeating.
Not applicable.
- Battle burnout. I’m pretty sure I’ve been battling burnout from working out for almost one year now. I can’t let that get in the way. Five weeks. I have to keep it up. I’ll post another progress report in two weeks.
Yes, burnout is a bitch. Maybe I shouldn’t be so hard on myself.
I think I have the attitude that there’s just so many other worthwhile things to do in the summer, and I don’t want to miss out. But I really hope this is not an indication on how I’m going to do once school’s in. Two more weeks. I need to finish strong.
Right now I’m looking for some motivation. I found one a couple of days ago from Karen at Makeup and Beauty Blog, called Be Good to Yourself:
Take a picture of yourself after a really fantastic workout. Limit your prepping — comb your hair and wipe away the perspiration from your face. Capture a shot that conveys how strong and proud you feel at that moment.
Later, on days when you don’t feel like exercising, look at the photo you took of yourself and try to remember how good you felt at the time it was taken.
I should have done this last night after an intense 20 minute cardio and 1.5 hours of muscle sculpting program. Yes, I do have some positive things to say on this post. I didn’t have my camera on me though.
So I’m taking a mental picture of it.
Maybe posting my lack of progress will be enough to kick me back into my ol’ motivated self. Does anybody have tips on how to stay motivated? I’m not trying to lose any more weight; I’m just trying to maintain my fitness level at this point. I really don’t want to slip. Please let me know in the comments.
