More Fitness.

In summer of 2007, I reached my heaviest weight ever at 125 lbs. Three years in University and I was 25 lbs heavier. Yikes. That may not seem like much to you, but if you’re 5’1″ and all your weight goes to your belly and thighs, you look fat. I believe “pregnant” was also thrown around a few times.

At this time, because I was on a decent paying internship, I decided to turn to my local gym to shape up. Working out during the summer didn’t really go as planned. I blame it on the nice weather, and oh yeah, lazy! Come the Fall season, I joined a Women’s GoodLife Fitness across the street from where I work. I thought “hey, this is perfect — I don’t even have to drag my butt to the gym since it’s right there!” For a few months I worked with a personal trainer, Olga, to whip me back up to shape. May I add that it is the best investment of my life so far!

After taking a short break from expensive personal training (I just recovered from Christmas expenses), I will be training with Olga again to tackle my fitness goals. I read many articles say that making your fitness goals public may help you stay on track. So, my physical goals (by end of June) are to:

  1. Lose my belly
  2. Be comfortable in short shorts
  3. Wear a bikini with confidence

Of course, good health and confidence are also in my long term goals. In the long run, this will take the higher priority. But just to be perfectly honest, who doesn’t want to look good in a bikini?

I also have to start logging my food as a part of this process. That will be the hardest part for me as I work pretty hard in the gym, but food control has never been my strong point.

Currently at 112 lbs, I am almost at my happy weight. Now this pesky belly has to go! My waist is currently at 28 inches, and we’re aiming to trim down to 25 inches by end of June. Wish me luck and a lot of discipline!
