What’s the deal with Grey’s Anatomy?
For the entire school year I found myself being hooked on many television shows: the usual Gilmore Girls and Battlestar Galactica (I know what you’re thinking: “Wow, this girl is a total geek.” But believe me when I say this is not as scifi-ey as it sounds. More like awesome political drama in outer space!), and the newest most remarkable show, Heroes. These are the shows that I watch every week, time permitting. Otherwise, I get them on torrents and keep up to date. So far I have never been a month behind on my favourite shows.
I seriously think that religiously watching three shows weekly is a bit excessive given my work load in school, and my social life. And I’ve always told myself that it is enough; I am not adding another show to my weekly TV dose. But I caved. In the beginning of my final exams.
So what is it about Grey’s Anatomy that is so irresistible? The imperfect yet close relationships between the characters, the interns’ struggle to stay sane, to know and care about every patient, to keep distant and not be attached. I am drawn to the show for its lessons: on love, friendship, and life.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m hooked.
